050 - Farewell Blues

[Edward's laying on the grass outside, goggles haphazardly shoved up on her head. Her computer all but forgotten at her feet. She saw the nameplate gone earlier today. She'd figured as much since she hadn't seen him around for a little while but it didn't make it hurt any less.

She sighs, watching the clouds drift by and thinking of her friend.]

Jet's gone... Ein's gone... Why is Disa-Disa sending Edward's friends home?

[Spike happens to be outside today, still barely getting around with his leg messed up but hey... the second he could get outside, that's where he went.

When he overhears Ed, he pipes up out of nowhere.]

You saw Ein too, huh?

[She cranes her head back to see him]

Uh-huh. Edward told you, but you didn't believe Edward.

[gottaknockhard]

[He stares off in thought...]

That's right. You said he wasn't a dog.

[jammin_with_ed]

Uh-huh. He turned back into a dog when we got back to the caaaastle.

[gottaknockhard]

He had a room and everything?

Yeah. He and Edward played a lot, too.

Nice of him to visit.

[She sighs] Edward misses him.

[He thinks to say something like "maybe you'll see him again", but he holds it back. Maybe there's part of him that doesn't want Ed to go and join him back home... Who knew he had the nerve to be sentimental after everything he tried to do?]

[She looks up at him with a smile that's just a little bit sad.]

How's Spikey-Spike?

[He smiles back, just barely.]

[Her smile widens a little] Good. Edward doesn't want you to leave.

I doubt I could if I wanted to.

[She doesn't even turn to look at him]

Ein? Ah, yes, I think you told me of him, once. He was on the Bebop with you as well, yes?

[She nods] He was Edward's best friend. He followed Edward eeeeeverywhere. He even followed Edward when Edward left Bebop to...

[She pauses. To what? Why DID she leave Bebop? Huh. She could have sworn she'd had a reason. Oh well. She shakes her head a little]

When Edward left Bebop...

[he's quiet for a moment, then rolls onto his side to look at her]

It sounds as though you've finally discovered what you've lost.

[jammin_with_ed]

[She shrugs, pausing for a minute] Maybe... Edward doesn't know. How do you know if you don't know something?
