Give it another month or so, and I will have been here for four years. While I'll agree that spontaneously losing parts of yourself and being elaborately confined are obnoxious, I'm beginning to think the worst part is how people don't stick around long enough to get anything done. Four years, and so little to show for it.

But now, some former residents are arriving with their previous memories still intact. It's a bit like adding insult to injury, watching the powers-that-be pick and choose who remembers and who has to have things explained to them all over again.

Well, Paris was surprisingly nice and quiet compared to some of the last world changes.

And that was when all of these "returning" residents showed up. One thing or another.

Oh, I'm sure it has. I'd like to think it was quieter in earlier years.

Oh, it did. On several accounts, I think.

If I remember correctly, someone tried to jump off the roof--someone who wouldn't survive that sort of thing.

What happened to them afterwards?

Oh, they were fine. Pretty sure some friends caught him before he could manage.

Even though death is two weeks here. [ That person still tried. :/ ]

It was a little less certain back then. He might not have been in a great state of mind to begin with, either.

How often did people die, and how often did they not come back?

It's not a constant number. Maybe a dozen in a year, if you include deaths during dangerous shifts in the environment.

The ones that didn't come back were very few, comparatively. It's hard to say if they stayed dead, of if this place just didn't bother to keep them around long enough for people to see their return.

...Mm, though I think I'm recalling a very early year. The deaths were collectively few at the beginning of things, so not many people had experience with the "two weeks" idea.

Creepy how much has changed in these past few years.

Never been to Poland, but it seems like quite the place to see. [ The architecture alone is pretty. ]

I haven't actually lived there for a while, but... it does have its perks.
