eighth ★; [ action ]

[ It's a beautiful morning, and Kirby isn't about to spend it cooped up inside. Why wouldn't he take the opportunity to play? Outside, nearby the castle, this pink puffball is kicking around a simple yellow ball. The ball is barely smaller than him, and it's a bit difficult to kick around, but he's been managing fine for the past half hour.

Even star warriors get tired sometimes, though. His kicks become weaker as he frolics outside, and soon enough, he decides he's going to have to step up his game a little.

It's a pity he misjudged how much power he was putting into that kick.

The yellow ball literally goes flying into the sky, and Kirby's eyes are glued to it as it begins to fall back down from its high point. ]

Poyooooooo... [ he says under his breath, watching it go. ]

[And that ball smacks a passing lawyer right in the side of his head as he's walking his bike out for a ride.]

What the--!

[Looking around for the source of the sudden pain, he spots the ball on the ground nearby and picks it up.]

Uh... somebody missing this?

[ Kirby runs to the victim, having seen the collision. He... looks kind of familiar. ]

Poyo! [ he waves as he gets closer, suddenly remembering. This was the guy that he ate sandwiches with! It had been awhile since he had seen him, so his name wasn't exactly coming to him right now... ]

Poyo poyo!

[Phoenix, on the other hand, doesn't have much trouble remembering the peculiar little pink fellow he once made a sandwich for, long ago. And, as an added bonus, he's heard the name in passing enough by now to know it's "Kirby" and not "Kuh-bee"!]

Hey! Kirby! Remember me?

[Crouching down and holding out the ball, he smiles brightly.]

I think you lost this.

[ It only takes a few more moments before he can remember his name, and Kirby beams, hopping a little. He was making so many friends that it was hard to remember everyone sometimes! ] Nick! Nick, poyo!

[ After his happy hops, he accepts the ball, holding it over his head. He wondered if Phoenix wanted to play with him. ] Poyo poyo!

Playing a game?

[He stands up and looks around.]

I don't see anybody else--you're not playing alone, are you?

[Because if so, he's definitely joining in.]

[ Indeed, he is! The puffball nods eagerly, because yes, he was playing alone and some company would be really fun! Besides, they were friends, right? ]

Poyo, poyo!

Well then! Let's play something!

[He stands sort of confusedly, wondering if he's looking for the ball to be thrown or kicked toward him.]

Poyo!

[ Kirby puts the ball down, giving it a much less powerful kick so it rolls towards Phoenix. The puff was only used to playing soccer, so he was more comfortable with it. Besides, who threw the ball, anyway? ]

[Phoenix stops the ball with his foot and gives it a kick back, trying to keep it from sailing too far past Kirby.]

It's been a while since I played anything like soccer! Probably not since I was a kid.

[ Kirby mimics his friend, stopping the ball with his foot awkwardly before returning it. He wonders how old Phoenix is, to be saying things like that. He didn't look that old... ]

Poyo poyo?

[The words may not mean anything to Phoenix, but the inflection implies a question, and Phoenix shrugs before kicking the ball back, a little off-course this time.]

Uh... yeah, I played soccer a little when I was in grade school. Way back a long time ago--

[And he adds, as an afterthought]

--with Edgeworth, sometimes!

[ Kirby runs as fast as his feet can take him and he dives to stop the ball, before righting himself and kicking it back, a little tiredly. ]

Poyo! Edge... Edge... worth... poyo! [ he says, recognizing the name of one of his best friends. ]

(( ooc: handwaving the fact that Kirby should likely know Edgey's name by now because I forgot if he does know it or not sjfjajfj ))

[Phoenix misses his chance to catch the ball with his foot this time and has to chase it down, calling over his shoulder as he does.]

You know Edgeworth, huh?

[ Kirby waits patiently for Phoenix to retrieve the ball. He supposes that the two of them were friends, which only made things even better, considering he was both of their friends, too! The puff couldn't help getting a little excited about this. Maybe they could all hang out! ]

Poyo! [ he affirms cheerfully, nodding. ]

[Once the ball is once again in Phoenix's possession, he makes a great show of aiming this time, and kicks again.]

You sound pretty happy about that, huh? You seem like unlikely friends, but that's pretty cool anyway.

[ He had aimed pretty well! Kirby barely needed to move to stop that kick. ]

Poyo? [ Unlikely friends? He wondered why Phoenix thought that. Edgeworth was really nice!

The puffball kicks the ball back, concentrating a little more on his aim as well. ]

[ Stocking is coming from the opposite direction and the flash of yellow does catch her eye. She puts her basket down as the ball comes back down to the ground and kicks it over to where it came from. ]

[ Kirby was tiredly running towards the ball when it began rolling back towards him. ]

Poyo? [ he calls as he picks up the ball, running in her direction. ]

[ Stocking hears a faint "Poyo?", and then spots a ball of pink.

...... Well, that explains the ball. ]

Kirby!! [ She shouts and waves as she closes the distance between them. ]

[ Kirby recognizes the voice almost instantaneously. ]

St... Stocking, poyo! [ he calls back, and when they're finally in front of each other, he does a little twirl on one of his feet. ]

Poyo poyo!

[ She giggles as she bends down in front of him. ]

Hello, Kirby! How have you been today?

[ The puff puts the ball down carefully so that it doesn't roll away. ]

Poyo! [ He motions around. It's such a nice day, so he decided to play outside! ]
