 [It is late in the evening, and Edgeworth is returning to his room from spending countless hours at the Clinic. Upon opening his room door, something is a little...off, to say the least. He writes to the fellow residents of the castle:]








...I am still but a newcomer here, and I've yet to comprehend much the inscrutable workings of this place, but is finding a complete stranger in your bed considered a normal occurrence?

It's difficult to not think on it when a stranger is occupying your bed. An insanely strong one, at that. I acknowledge my limitations.

No idea, but I'll tell you if I ever find out.

Afraid not. [ Because they don't exist duh--oh wait right, crazy magic castle he is still mostly convinced is a coma delusion. ] They're a little far out of my area of expertise.

Brilliant. In any case, have you any idea what happens were anyone to die here? Judging by the progression of things, the possibility might not be far off.

You die, effectively, although according to others death isn't permanent, you will come back in two weeks as if nothing had ever happened.

It sounds absolutely crazy I know, but that's what people keep saying.

[ A short laugh. ] We are supposedly unwilling guests of a magic castle.

I was under the impression you didn't believe in, 'magic.'

[confidente]

I don't. As far as I care this is all some sort of... very detailed hallucination.

If you can recall what you might have imbibed to conjure this sort of, 'very detailed hallucination,' I beseech you to share some of it so that I may hallucinate myself somewhere closely resembling home as much as possible.

Then have you considered the possibility otherwise? That is simply may not be a, 'detailed hallucination?'

[ A lengthy pause. ] Yes. I'd rather I didn't, but I have.

As long as you begin to survey all possibilities, the quicker you'll arrive at the truth, no matter how seemingly ridiculous they may be. I've come to the realization that we can never be too above ourselves to assume that we have it all figured out...the hard way, in many a case.

As much as I wish to regret saying this, it is a possibility worth considering.
