[Bucky hasn't heard anything about the missing persons yet, as he's been in a bad mood since last night. Which could actually be fixed if he just went and apologized. But Bucky has pride, so he's not going to apolo- Yeah, he's going to apologize. He feels exactly like when he and Steve fight right now, just sort of empty and guilty. If he bothered to think about it, then he'd possibly be scared that Geoffrey has somehow reached Steve levels, but he's not right now.

Geoff's room is only a floor below his, so he gets there and knocks on the door, sighing when there's no immediate answer. He must be out, or just ignoring him.] Right, and you say I avoid things... [And that's when he catches sight of the mirrored name plaque.] What...? That should not look like that.

[He's flicking open his journal now, because that's weird, and looking for the answer. When he finds it, he just stares at his journal and swears.] God damn it all to hell!

[After a few minutes of sitting outside Geoff's door in silence, Bucky puts up two filters.]

You guys all right? Anybody you know...get taken?

You better still be here, Steve. Because if you got taken too... [He trails off.]

I walked away because I didn't want to lose it in the middle of the lobby. If you had talked to me you would have known that.

[His voice raises. He's angry; not the self righteous kind he gets with bullies. This is hurt finally boiling over.]

But you don't talk to me. You never talk to me. Even now you're hiding behind the journal because you can just shut me out whenever you like.

[And Bucky has had it with this now too. But unlike Steve, his voice gets quiet and deadly.] You know, that street runs both ways. You could have talked to me. But you didn't.

But you want to talk to me? Right now? I'm sitting outside 2007 Terrere Tower. Come find me. [And he slams the journal shut.]

[And then Bucky does exactly what Steve knew he would do. He almost doesn't come, but it's Steve. He can't give up on anyone no matter what he feels.

So yes Steve is heading that way. Say hello? He sure is hell doesn't know where to start since he got cut off mid-argument.]

[Bucky hears Steve coming, and gets up from where he's sitting, dropping his journal right there and walking out into the middle of the hall. He's trying to look casual, when he's really a mess.] So you're here. Now, say whatever you want to my face.

[Steve narrows his eyes. He's both confused and angered by how he puts that.]

What is wrong with you? You're acting like I'm the one keeping secrets and shutting you out. We were fine while the girls were here, remember? I wondered why you were scarce since the kids left, but we all needed some time so I left it alone.

[He shakes his head.] I don't know where you're coming from with all this. This is on you, Bucky. You're doing what you've always done since the day you've got here. You shut me out, you run away, you act like I'm doing something wrong by just existing in the same space as you. All I'm trying to do is be on your side just like I've always been. You're the one making it so hard.

[He exhales. His voice lowers and his expression turns somber.] I know you said you don't blame me for what happens, but I think you do without realizing it. You've treated me like the enemy since day one here and I can't think of any other reason why you would.

[And suddenly all the fight goes out of him. Because he doesn't want to do this with Steve anymore. He doesn't want to fight and he doesn't want to lose him.] Steve, that's not true. I would never blame you for anything. You're my best friend, my brother... [He runs a hand through his hair.]

Is it so bad that I don't want my best friend to know just exactly how messed up I actually am? [He gives him a shaky smile.] It shouldn't be your problem to deal with my...issues.
