LUNAR FESTIVAL | DAY ONE | ELDERS & FEAST

[Another day in Paradisa. One decorated in lights of all sorts-- lights and lanterns gracing each building in a warming array of colors and brightness. It seems to be something rather festive, a delightful change in the scenery of the castle.

In the courtyard, two bright lights can be seen stretching high into the sky, shining even in spite of the broad daylight.

What could be under these lights, one may wonder, as they catch the eye of any onlooker... in which there seems to be two figures beneath them.

Now, do you find interest in them, the increased number of fireworks within one's reach, or the feast that seesm to begin to pique within the lavishly decorated dining room?

And what is with these red envelopes?]

[ Watching from not too far off, looking a bit unsuuure. ]

Are we allowed to do that?

[ She takes her arm back and drops to her heels, chuckling to herself. ]

The earth has yet to swallow me for trying.

[amiable]

[ She finally gets a better look at Lucrezia and instantly her face turns red. Her hair is kind of like Stephanie's, but it seems more golden in color. Oh god, she's so pretty... ]

... Hello.

[ SHE'S TOO PRETTY. ]

[heloise]

[ Lemon. Lemon is the secret. She peers at the woman when she starts blushing. ]

Are you well? Is it the heat from the lanterns?

[amiable]

[ Flailing a bit. ]

I-I'm fine!

I'm Uru! What'syourname? [ She really did say that as one word. ]

[heloise]

[ She bites back a smile. ]

Lucrezia Borgia. It's a pleasure to meet you, Uru.

[amiable]

It's nice to meet you, too! [ Bows her head a little, feeling super embarrassed. ] Lucrezia... [ It's a nice name, but not one she's familiar with and it's not occurring to her that she should brush up on her history. ]

Are you from Europe maybe? It doesn't sound very American.

[heloise]

[ She giggles at the bowing. This has never happened before. ]

I was born in Italy, but my father is Spanish. We were Borja there. In Italy, Borgia.

And your name, it does not sound very American either?

[amiable]

[ Her eyes widen, looking pretty impressed. She's only seen pictures of Italy but it looks beautifullllll. ]

Really? I've only seen pictures of Italy, but everything I have seen looks very beautiful. And then there's the food! [ She is a lover of all food. ]

No, it's Japanese. I'm from Japan!

[heloise]

The most beautiful. [ Although, Italian cuisine has yet to develop and the Church decreed that gluttony is a mortal sin. ]

Tell me, Uru, what is it like to live in Japan?

[amiable]

[ Whoops. ]

I've never been to any major cities. I've only lived in Shiawase, but... it feels like the happiest place on Earth. Everyone is kind and everyday is sort of like an adventure. [ A thoughtful pause. ] Learning everyone's story and about their happiness.

But places like Tokyo... they're super big and busy. It's always busy and crowded there, and I hear it's kind of loud. It's a popular tourist place, though!

[heloise]

Shiawase, Tokyo. [ That's not too difficult to pronounce. ] You may find Italy less friendly and fuller of intrigue.

And what year have you come from, Uru?

[amiable]

What makes you say that? I've never met Italians here, I think.

It was 2006 for me back home.

[heloise]

[ She smiles, as if to show that she isn't the one contributing to the state of Italia. ]

You must visit Toscana for the people, Venezia for the Carnevale and Firenze for the exquisite architecture. And Rome, of course, the heart of civilization.

[amiable]

Someday I'd really like to travel, but first I have to finish my school. [ She grins at her. ] We did go to France last month!

[heloise]

[ She assumes Uru means tutoring. Surely not a school school. ]

I heard. Paris, was it not?

[amiable]

Yep! It was the most beautiful place I've seen so far. [ Hm, but then that means Lucrezia wasn't around for it? ] When did you arrive?

[heloise]

Then Rome will leave you stunned. [ Nationalism for the win. ] About a month ago.

[amiable]

[ She bets that's true. Having lived in a quiet city and for the most part a sheltered life? Everything's fascinating to her. ]

Only a month? You seem... really calm being here!

[heloise]

[ She folds her skirt and takes a seat on the snow, patting the space beside her for Uru. ]

I do not regret my departure so readily. And you, how long have you been here, Uru?

[amiable]

I think it's admirable, though! This place can be scary for newcomers.

Over two years now. It'll be three in October.

[heloise]

It has been most kind to me thus far. [ Perceptions, perhaps, but she can recall little malice. ]

Are you glad to be here, Uru?

[amiable]

[ With a fond smile: ]

I am! With all my heart, I'm happy for the experiences here, even if I'm far away from my friends and family back home. But I have friends here... people who are like family to me. It makes me happy and excited now that there's a chance we can come back with memories.

So if I do leave... I can come back and have all these precious memories of my time and the people here.

[heloise]

[ She mimics the smile and multiplies it. It is only at the end that she lets it recede. ]

But Uru, have you not been told that we will not remember our stay here?

[amiable]

It usually happens but... during Christmas some of our friends came back from Paris. Then when we got back to the castle, they remembered everything about Paradisa.
