LUNAR FESTIVAL | DAY ONE | ELDERS & FEAST

[Another day in Paradisa. One decorated in lights of all sorts-- lights and lanterns gracing each building in a warming array of colors and brightness. It seems to be something rather festive, a delightful change in the scenery of the castle.

In the courtyard, two bright lights can be seen stretching high into the sky, shining even in spite of the broad daylight.

What could be under these lights, one may wonder, as they catch the eye of any onlooker... in which there seems to be two figures beneath them.

Now, do you find interest in them, the increased number of fireworks within one's reach, or the feast that seesm to begin to pique within the lavishly decorated dining room?

And what is with these red envelopes?]

Greetings, dear Fluttershy. From what I have gathered, they are holding some variant of a Lunar Festival.

Oh... they look like they're enjoying themselves.

[doublethefun]

It is a festival, is it not? Should they not be 'having fun?' [devious castle reverse psychology plan?]

[3_butterflies]

Oh, yes! But... there's so many people there... [shy pony is shy.]

[what is this 'shyness' thou speakest of.

And there is an abundance of space. [a bit of a question at the end. Not quite sure what you're trying to say, Fluttershy.]

I... I guess so. But, um, I think... I'll just stay here. Or go back. Or. Um.

I was following Pinkie Pie, she wanted to see what was going on... But she can have plenty of fun without me... and there are so many people I don't know there....

Then perhaps we can have fun together. Thou hast yet to sample the foods, yes?

[well, looks like there's no getting out of this.]

[but she will be sticking very close to you. Almost hiding behind you.]

And she'll start walking confidently towards the table.]

Do festivities such as this happen often, considering the abundance of free time everypony seems to have?

I guess so... Something strange usually happens at least once a month, good or bad... Looks like this is a good month.

[dryly] A schedule, then? How wonderful.

[approaching the table and well. Oranges, dumplings, sticky paste things, and...is that a whole chicken?]

[There's a low whine seeing the poor chicken ;; ]

... There's always meat...

[frown, frown] I suppose this should have been expected...

Well, my appetite has disappeared. Let us leave. [glancing at her] Unless thou wishest to stay?

[3_butterflies]

[Shakes her head, still whimpering a bit.]

Can I... stay by your side?

Of course. Let us find a less crowded corner.

[she scoops up a couple of oranges because those are safe and meat-free and starts walking toward the quietest corner of the dining hall.]

I'm sorry... I'm probably not very good company... Not many ponies know this, but... I'm a little shy.

[The secret of the century, surely. She follows the princess closely.]

[it's right up there with "Spike has a crush on Rarity."

A chuckle.] I am hardly one for mingling either.

[as anypony can tell by her social grace] That is more under Celestia's purview than mine.

Especially when it involves Canterlot ponies walking thusly. [and she'll walk a few paces with her nose stuck high in the air]

[She blinks, but then giggles a little.]

There's lots of differences between us ponies in Ponyville and the ones at Canterlot, huh...

Not as much as one would expect. You are all very proud of your homes; they merely express it in a different [more stuck-up] way.

[a sly smile] And just between us, I believe that at least a few of them must have an extra pair of eyes somewhere so that they can see where they are stepping.

[More giggling! Aw, you're fun.]

For somepony who says they're bad at mingling... I like hanging out with you.

And I with thee. [settling down in that corner now, and floating an orange over to her]

Mingling is different. It is tedious and ponies expect many things of thee.

[she nods slowly in agreement, taking the orange and nomnomnomnom.]

It's not easy... I don't like all the attention, and I don't have anything interesting to say... It's like they're all judging you right away...
