paradisa | LUNAR FESTIVAL | DAY ONE

[Another day in Paradisa. One decorated in lights of all sorts-- lights and lanterns gracing each building in a warming array of colors and brightness. It seems to be something rather festive, a delightful change in the scenery of the castle.

In the courtyard, two bright lights can be seen stretching high into the sky, shining even in spite of the broad daylight.

What could be under these lights, one may wonder, as they catch the eye of any onlooker... in which there seems to be two figures beneath them.

Now, do you find interest in them, the increased number of fireworks within one's reach, or the feast that seesm to begin to pique within the lavishly decorated dining room?

And what is with these red envelopes?]

In the near-fortnight I've been here, I've had enough of this castle's 'mercurial tendencies' for a lifetime.

[a low chuckle]

Was it truly that awful?

...Excessively.

[giggling a little]

Nevertheless, I am heartened to see that thou hast survived.

By the skin of my teeth, perhaps. Tell me, have you encountered much misfortune since you've been here?

[there's an irked flick of her tail as she gets serious again]

The castle saw fit to negate my powers over the night sky for a day. The sun did not rise that day and the moon would not set, and there was naught I could do to fix it.

...Actually...that sounds rather harmless. I suppose I'm simply unfortunate.

Harmless or not, I did not appreciate it and I certainly do not enjoy being compared to my sister.

I sense a sort of resentment for your sister. Does she reside here as well?

[wings half flare before they settle back. A guilty expression crosses her face for a moment.]

Nay, she is not here.

What has she done to you to cause such disdain? [[~~besides lock you up in the moon yah?~~]]

[standing very still]

Nothing. [nothing that wasn't wholly deserved] She is light and I am shadow; being compared to her reflects unfavorably upon me.

Hm.

I fail to see why. I am certain you know that being cast in everlasting light would be as detrimental as if we were to be shrouded in everlasting darkness.

[a wry smile]

I know. Balance and harmony above all, petty squabbling or not.

[that smile turns mischievous] Thou wouldst make a good pony, methinks.

[To be honest, still a little weirded out by the fact that he's conversing with a...pony.]

Such is usually the case with siblings.

[dammit. Was hoping for a change in subject.]

She is a wonderful sister.

It is an inexplicable bond. I, myself, find my sister to be simultaneously endearing and incredibly irritating.

[that nets you a chuckle]

Is she the younger?

Yes. And considers me the, 'little brother.'

[awwww]

That is most endearing. [a grin] For other poni - people.

I am perhaps one of the extreme few who would think so, however. Just about everyone else shrinks in fear upon the mere sight of her.

[blink. Is this some sort of odd similarity?] Truly?

Well, it might not be very apparent to most, but she is capable of kindness and compassion.
...It's simply that the way she chooses to carry herself tends to come across as intimidating to most others.
