LUNAR FESTIVAL | DAY ONE | ELDERS & FEAST

[Another day in Paradisa. One decorated in lights of all sorts-- lights and lanterns gracing each building in a warming array of colors and brightness. It seems to be something rather festive, a delightful change in the scenery of the castle.

In the courtyard, two bright lights can be seen stretching high into the sky, shining even in spite of the broad daylight.

What could be under these lights, one may wonder, as they catch the eye of any onlooker... in which there seems to be two figures beneath them.

Now, do you find interest in them, the increased number of fireworks within one's reach, or the feast that seesm to begin to pique within the lavishly decorated dining room?

And what is with these red envelopes?]

[Since she's coming closer, he'll make a little small talk to see if he can get her into a conversation.] This all reminds me of something that was celebrated back in my own world.

[It's super effective! She glances at him, as if she just noticed he was there.] Truly? It is unfamiliar to me.

What kinds of things did you celebrate in your world? [Curiously.]

Hmmm. [ticking off on her fingers] The Winter Veil, and directly after is of course the new year celebration. Winter Veil is more of a dwarven holiday, though many other nations celebrate it as well. There are also several harvest festivals in autumn, and Hallow's End as well. And in the spring, there is Noblegarden.

Dwarfs and elves? [He's... going out on the assumption she's an elf, due to the ears.] Your world sounds interesting. Are there any other different races? [Some of those sound like they could be rough equivalents of his world's holidays... Definitely interesting.]

[a good assumption! Alleria nods.] There are humans, of course. Gnomes and goblins ... trolls ... there are rumors of bestial half-men on the other continent, but I have never been there so I cannot say. We elves are supposedly descended from another race of elves also on this other continent, but one can never tell if there is much truth to legends.

Then there are the orcs, who are not of my world, but have come through a great portal from their own homeworld they had destroyed through their misuse of foul magic. But most of those have been slaughtered or otherwise placed in internment camps, I believe.

[It's like something straight out of a table top game he used to play with his friends. That is pretty cool and if he was younger, he might have geeked out a little bit more.]

My world is a little different. There are some aliens but majority are humans. A bunch of people have different powers though.

[She nods, familiar by now with worlds that have mostly humans and little else.]

Powers? You have magi, or perhaps druids?

There's magic but some people don't have magic. Like there's someone who can fly and has super strength so he can lift heavy things a normal human probably couldn't ever dream of doing. There's a guy who runs so fast you can hardly see him when he goes by. There's a lot more but it would take forever to list them all off.

[Squint ...] Each individual has their own specific ability? Wouldn't you run out of powers?

Some of them are similar and some have the same, like there's many people with super strength, quite a few who can fly... but some are unique. I know of someone who has something called tactile telekinesis and I don't think anyone else has that exact ability.

"Tactile tele ..." What does that mean, exactly?

[detectivegenius]

[Man, where's Kon when you need him to gloat about his TTK.] Do you know what telekinesis is...? Controlling objects with your mind without having to physically touch them? It's sort of like that, only he has to actually be touching what he's moving, hence tactile.

[A blank look.] So he's a mage.

[detectivegenius]

[Oh boy.] It's not really magic. He's... an alien from a different planet. [Okay, so he's only half but he's not so sure talking about cloning would be easily understood right now.] His physiology is different. It's just a natural ability he has.

[She spends a minute mulling this over, brow furrowing.]

I ... suppose that can be possible. Yes. [Nodding now, yes, sure.] In the way that the Quel'dorei are naturally more graceful and sensitive to magic than humans.

What are the Quel'dorei...?

[She wordlessly makes a gesture that pretty much says 'you're looking at it.']
