[Martel isn't quite sure what to say to him, but she needs to make sure he's all right, even if it does seem if he's ignoring her. She is worried about him. She knows he's still here, he just hasn't been around, and there's a lot of things she needs to tell him.]

...Are you all right? You haven't been around lately at all. You never answered my message earlier this month, either.


[Martel is sitting in the courtyard in a green winter coat she had the Castle magic up for her so she could be outside. Feel free to approach her, though she might be distracted.]

[Martel doesn't notice yet that the woman is an elf, but she nods back to her, sending a smile her way.]

[She seems friendly enough and not terribly preoccupied. Galadriel will make her way towards Martel. Aside from enjoying a pleasant conversation, she makes it a habit to know people- or at least know of them. And this is a face she doesn't recognize.]

May I? [She gestures next to other woman. Do you mind a little company?]

I don't mind at all. [She moves over on the bench a bit to give Galadriel more room to sit.]

[And sit she shall.]

I do not believe we have yet met. Have you only recently arrived?

Actually, you could say that. I was one of the people who returned at Christmas time with my my memories from Paris. So I've actually only been here for about a month.

I do not know whether to welcome you upon your return or to offer my condolences.

[heal_theworld]

Probably welcome me. [She smiles slightly.] This Castle is better than what I have to return to.

[inafadingcrown]

I see. [Her smile is mildly sad. She's heard that from a few people and it never ceases to trouble her.] Well, then, welcome you I shall. I am called Galadriel.

[heal_theworld]

Pleased to meet you, Galadriel. I am Martel Yggdrasill. [It's then when she notices that Galadriel has pointed ears.] ...Are you an elf?

[inafadingcrown]

I am. You are familiar with my kind? Many here know of us only through lore and song.

[heal_theworld]

Yes, I am. [She hesitates to tell her, but then again, she is probably an elf from a different world.] I'm a half-elf, actually.

[inafadingcrown]

And you hesitate to tell me for fear of judgement. [She's talked enough with elves of other worlds to know that not all are as welcoming as hers.] You needn't. My own grandchildren are counted among the line of the Half-Elven.

[heal_theworld]

...[She's actually a bit surprised at that.] The elves of my world do not approve of half-elves. I was exiled from the village because I was half-elven. And among humans, the reactions range from being shunned to my people being kept as slaves.

[inafadingcrown]

[It's probably difficult to read on her face, but she really is appalled.] It seems my world is a rarity, for there have been no such transgressions there.

My daughter's husband is also here. Should you meet, I suggest you take the opportunity to speak with him. He is Lord Elrond of Rivendell, also called Peredhil- Half Elven, in the common tongue.

[It's an easy way of demonstrating how little it matters in her own world. He's a greater lord than most and any who looked down on him would be foolish indeed.]

Thank you... If I do meet him, I will talk to him. [You have no idea how thankful she is, Galadriel. This gives her hope for her world, even though the situation looks bleak.]

I just wish I could have changed the minds of my people. Half-elves have grown suspicious of everyone but other half-elves. Even humans who wish them no harm they refuse to listen to. And the elves live in their village and talk to no one. [Usually she doesn't get frustrated like this, but the fact that she has met an elf that respects her has made her a bit annoyed at her entire world in general.]

Such attitudes change slowly, I fear, particularly when fed by the memories of past injustices.

[heal_theworld]

I know, but we had to try, because my world was running out of time. That hatred would have destroyed it. [And Martel is not being figurative.]

[inafadingcrown]

I begin to wonder if any are brought here from a time of peace. [Running out of time, indeed.]

[heal_theworld]

I wonder that too. I know that I wasn't, at least. [She pauses.] ...Was your world at peace, Galadriel?

[inafadingcrown]

It is not. [She pauses and looks down at her hands for a moment.] I was taken amid preparations for a great war- likely the last, should we fail.

[heal_theworld]

[She thinks about this silently.] There still has to be hope... I just managed to help end a 1,000 year war, and nobody thought it could be done.

[inafadingcrown]

Hope remains still, small though it may be; I do not yet despair.

[heal_theworld]

I try not to despair either. The war has ended, and even though the tree had died, it has left us a seed to grow a new tree. [And even know she knows that things get worse before they get better, she is happy to know that.]

[The mention of the tree gets a visible reaction- her eyes widen and she turns to better observe the other woman. Martel's words bring back something that happened in Galadriel's own world long ago- a memory from the time that formed her.]

This tree you speak of- will you tell me more of it?

Of course. The tree...The Giant Kharlan Tree, is the source of all mana in our world. Mana is in everything, from a blade of grass to the largest creature. So therefore, the tree is the source of all life. The elves planted the tree when they descended to Aselia from their comet, Derris-Kharlan.
