Adjusting is always easier if you surround yourself with familiar things, yeah?

The castle just overloaded me. [The sound in the background would be a stack of books that's just lost their balance. Rose waves it off... she'll get to it.]

Everything I ever owned in the years I was in this place has just been returned to me.

'Mean, I know I wasn't always the neatest resident, but this is forcing me to clean. [She sighs, running her hand through her hair as she glances around her room.]

Sort'v not very fair of it.

[She makes a clicking sound with her tongue and then exhales, clapping her hands to get started.]

Oh! Anyone seen a lil' dinosaur 'round? Most my pets have seemed to wander on back, but she's missin'. I was just wondering.

How did you deal with it, when y' first got here?

Honestly? I drank a lot. It was 'round the holiday though. There were a lot of people I was sort'v familiar with from home and I just surrounded myself with them.

Gotta say, I wouldn' be dealin' half as much's I am now if my brother hadn't showed up here with me. So I think I know whatcha mean.

Maybe you and me could go get a drink sometime, aye?

Not here, no - 'fore we got here, me an' my brother got in a fight with some guys. We came out on th' better end of it, but still - wasn' pretty.

It'll be alright, though, yeah? Doctors are fixing you up?

I might've spoken to him. T'be honest, I've had a bit of a quick few first weeks here.

Well... for starters I came back which isn't so much the odd part -- but that I remember bein' here before is the weird spot.

... [and now she gets proof of how absolutely new he is] Why wouldn't you remember?

Rule is that when you leave here, go home that is, you forget what went on. Makes it easier so you're not insane thinking that years or months happened in the span of a second.

... M'already feelin' insane enough, thanks ... How's that even happen? Somebody brainwash ya?

[even if she can't see it, he's making a scrambling motion with one hand next to his head... someone speaks with his hands when he's agitated]

No? I think the castle just locks the memories up. Sort'v so you can't get t'them.

Mean, how'd you explain all this back home? You'd get locked up.

So it's like.... brainwashing? Like they do in th' military, in movies an' shit?

Maybe? Could just be that the memories get locked up. Stored away where you can't find them.

Sounds scary as hell. [he frowns] I mean ... memory's a big chunk of what makes us who we are. F'we lose that ...

[he doesn't know his loss yet, so ... this conversation is even more relevant, somehow]

Bit, yeah, but I think all it'd take from us was the things we had here. If we can't really talk about it without being accused of being insane - think it's better off locked up.

[he thinks about this, reeeally thinks about it, before:] Guess yer right.

[and then he realizes they've been talking for a while now, and he hasn't given her his name. good job, man, Ma would be proud]
