[Here's a fairly chipper tone:]

There are conversations about expeditions... I wonder, curiously, why there is so much waiting involved. There is no need to amass supplies nor food when the castle gifts it so readily, no need to search for patrons to fund the expedition, so why do people not simply pack up a horse and depart? Even women and children could travel easily, like this.

People from the future are terribly pampered.

[Meanwhile, you can find Ezio in the garden, picking flowers for his lady.]

I do not know what a cactus is.

It's a kind of prickly plant that lives in the desert! She's really cute... I don't think she ever sleeps... I'm around right now, you can see them if you want!

I would certainly like to. Give me a few hours -- I have a brief prior engagement, and then I shall meet you.

In the castle. I can go anywhere around here.

[TIME FOR A TIMESKIP...?]

There is Ezio in the garden, fresh from sparring, infidelity and fidelity. Waitin'.]

[OOOH INFIDELITY OOOOOOH MR. EZIO WHAT ARE YOU UP TO??? He doesn't have to wait long, anyway, because in short order Tad strolls up, Rin astride. She's kind of keeping an eye out for Ezio but kind of not because, hey, it's hard to miss a six-foot-high poofy-furred tigerdog.]

[Bad things :(

He grins, spying the dog and knowing immediately that it must be that strange "Pokéman" dog. He heads towards her.]

I did not expect something so BIG!

Ho ho, that's who they're looking for! Tad swings around and goes to put his nose right in Ezio's face for a sniff. Rin grins.]

Yeah! You see why he's a help for things! Lucky space isn't a problem around here either.

[Ezio puts his hands up almost defensively when Tad gets close, but he's fast to realize Tad is just an intimidatingly huge dog and not going to maul him. He gently touches Tad's maw, burying his fingers into fur.]

Well, I cannot imagine him resting in the castle.

[An intimidatingly huge dog but a big sweetie pie, who's inherited a lot of Rin's generally pleasant personality on top of a good nature of his own. He pushes cheerfully into Ezio's hands, opening his jaws and panting happily.]

Oh, he does all right. We share a room! He makes a good pillow for camping out, too. [She scratches at Tad's ears fondly.]

[Ezio laughs.]

How do you fit him through the door?

You can put them in the little ball things... [Sliding off Tad's back] I like to have him out, but here, I'll show you.

Oh, yes, those things. I just keep mine in a cage on the balcony, like a real bird.

[If he knows she won't show. She does fish another Pokéball out of her carryall though.]

Yeah, I like to have him out and about. He can do whatever he wants. Sometimes it's easier though. [Holds up the other pokéball] Wanna see my cactus?

[He looks at it, curiously.]

Yes, I would.

[Obligingly, Rin clicks the button on the Pokéball. The usual stream of light emerges, forming a shape which clears up to be... this weird-looking thing. It's about three feet high.

It just sways where it landed. Glunk glunk gluwoooooo.]

Uh... yeah. This is Erwien!

[Ezio looks surprised, to say the least. He leans over to it and reaches to touch it.]

What a strange creature...

[Erwien isn't actually all that prickly. She's just warm and smooth to the touch, kinda cactus-ey, and doesn't react much to Ezio touching her. She just keeps on swaying, glunk glunk gluwoooo.]

No kidding, right? I thought she was cute when I saw her so... uh, well. [Here they all are :'D]

[Ezio watches the cactus sway, hands moving gently over the surface of its skin. How strange.]

You seem to have a penchant for collecting creatures. I would not have imagined girl of your small stature would choose something so... intimidating.

[Erwien just stares at him, with those googly unblinking yellow eyes. Glunk glunk gluwoooo. Rin crouches next to him and stares at Erwien too, but glances at Ezio - ]

Erwien is intimidating?

[He shrugs, and chuckles.]

When most women choose flowers, they pick ones with delicate petals and smooth stems, not prickled creatures.
