Day One: Party!

[it's the summer solstice and a huge group of demigods safely made it to camp. This is clearly a good omen for things to come. The camp is alive with music and dancing. The satyrs are jamming on their lutes and the tree nymphs come out of the trees to dance. Everybody's invited!

The party will go on long into the night. It's all for you guys, so have a blast!]

Oh, I get it now. And when they see the next "weird" or "unusual" thing, they'll move on, right?

[Sounds like some of the nobles back home. And she's not too fond of them.]

Exactly.

It's kind of pointless, if you ask me. Why copy a look? I really could never understand that. Isn't it better to just look like yourself and not another person?

[prettyknives]

The point is to not look like yourself.

[ninjainviolet]

[She looks down at herself.] In a way I can understand that, but why go for something that only draws attention?

I don't know, they just do.

[ninjainviolet]

[Looks at the woman with a smile.]

Sounds like you don't go for that yourself.

It's a waste of time that can be better spent on other things.

And a habit the nobles of my world like to form. [A beat.]

I'm Sheena Fujibayashi.

Fuji..bay... That's a mouthful. I'll just call you Sheena.

My name's Clove.

[Sheena smiles.]

I've heard that before. Just Sheena's fine.

Have you been here long? [Not the camp, Paradisa.]

[prettyknives]

A few months, by this world's calendar.

[ninjainviolet]

[Sheena nods, remembering to look that up later.]

So, what do you know about Paradisa?

[prettyknives]

Giant magical castle with a magical talking book. There is no real peacekeeping force, so you can basically do whatever you want.

[ninjainviolet]

[Her eyes narrow.]

So the all-powerful magic castle doesn't interfere with people's lives? How hypocritical.

[It's not like it kidnapped everyone and brought them to a strange place, is it?]

[prettyknives]

It does in ways. Like this way. [gestures to their surroundings]

And it gives people "losses", some kind of change that they have to dea with. But their everyday life? It doesn't seem to interrup that at all.

I noticed. One of my cabin-mates mentioned that there's also no warning when it does something like this. [She copies Clove's gesture towards the camp.]

Yeah, I wasn't too happy about it taking what it did from me. And I'm still not. It was mine, and it had no right to do that. [She's going to try to get it back.]

[prettyknives]

If people didn't miss it, it wouldn't be much of a loss. [of course, she's furious over her own loss, but she won't share that with this girl]

It's one thing if I lose it [Which would be nearly impossible], but what this place does is steal things.

[She pauses.]

A friend of mine told me it can do the same thing with memories. At first, I didn't believe her...until I talked to someone else from my world who didn't even remember the brother she had been close to.

Why does it steal things?

[prettyknives]

To put us at a disadvantage. Or maybe the loss is something that gives this place energy. Who knows?

Energy? [She looks around.] You like a source for its magic?

[prettyknives]

If you want to call it magic.

[ninjainviolet]

Well, it's not any magic I'm used to, that's for sure. But, I take it you don't think it is at all.
