6- The Lake

...How are you guys doing here? [They'd only been in the Castle less than two weeks and there was already a world change. It had to be pretty overwhelming.]

[With that done, Belle walks her way towards the lake, her journal still open at her side. There was no way she was following her 'schedule', as it were. If this castle thinks it can control her it has another thing coming. Not after Mirror World. She stops by the edge of the lake, looking out over it and says quietly mostly to herself, though her journal still catches it.] ...Hopefully there's nothing that lives in this lake that's going to eat me.

It was a deal. In return for my town's safety in a war, I went with a sorcerer forever. He wanted me to take care of his estate and castle. [As in a glorified housemaid.]

...Well, that's certainly creepy. Why bring someone in to just...clean the place up, unless he had some sort of grudge against you?

It was the price for the magic to keep my town safe from the wars. All magic has a price. [She shrugs.]

...True. Still, oddly specific. Why you?

My father was the ruler of the small town and the lands surrounding it.

Ahhh I see, so the sorcerer was taking away the heir to the village. Clever.

[chippedcup]

Well, I did agree. Nobody wanted me to go, but ...No one decides my fate but me.

And well, he did me a favor. I managed to get out of my engagement because of it.

I take it you didn't want to marry the guy?

Ugh, he was dull and shallow. A bit like those absolutely flat hero types you see in books that are only there to rescue the princess. I doubt he missed me, anyway. He had all the other women fawning over him, Sir Gaston~ [She says it with an obviously fake breathy voice, then laughs.]

That wasn't the only reason I did it, but...it was a large part.

[That gets a chuckle] Well, I don't blame you. No one needs the vapid sort of guy hanging around like a lost puppy.

[She laughs at that too.] I'm sure that he probably did care for me in some way, but we were never meant to be together. The point is moot now, anyway, since I doubt I'll be marrying him anytime soon.

Well, I for one am glad you're not wasted on someone so boring.
