27 Blueprints -- Dictated

[When Ted wakes up and discovered he had gone to sleep simply out of boredom to wake up two weeks later, it didn't exactly grip him with the same anxiety as it had the first time it happened to him, but it did cause him to think that maybe it was a signal of some sorts. A signal to get off his ass and actually do something.

He'd spent most of the morning simply mulling over the matter, skimming the journal idly and glancing at his various belongings-- like the trashcan in the corner, filled to the brim with crumpled papers of failed architectural designs.

Around eleven, he would write in the journal.]

Hey. Uh, sorry for not checking up on you, I was kind of in a loss-induced coma. [He continues on smoothly, unfazed.] I know it's still kind of cold out, but do you want to go take a walk in town?

Yo, guys, it's Ted. Got knocked out for a couple weeks, so I hope I didn't miss anything too exciting. Hey, um, I guess this is directed more toward people who know me, but. You guys want to hang over at my place later? [He gives a shrug despite himself.] There's not really an occasion. But hey, why does there need to be? We're alive. Young. We need to rile this place up! Get lively!

Plus I haven't watched Galactic Battles in forever. Who's with me?

[oh wow where does he even begin]

Well, in terms of losses... One time I was a cockroach for three weeks! Annnd the castle decided it'd be a good idea to change me back while I was on the top of the kitchen cupboards.

[downright]

You're kidding, right? [ Stuff like that just doesn't happen in real life. Then again. Magic castle... ]

... Guess I've been really lucky so far.

Yeah? How long have you been here?

Just a few months, but I've been keeping myself busy at the clinic.

I'm Chase, by the way.

[teds_out]

Yeah, it was awhile before my first loss, too.

[Not that he'd been missing out on misery any. Rest assured, he went through a ton of crap before his first loss.]

Ted. ..seems like people here don't care much for last names, huh?

[downright]

[ Hm. Come to think of it. ] Probably because there isn't that many people living in the castle?

But Chase happens to be my last name actually. First name's Robert.

I'm used to friends calling me Chase though.

[teds_out]

I'd say well over two-hundred people is plenty.

Ted Mosby. My friends just call me Ted, though.

I really need to pay more attention.

Now I have to ask.

You superhuman? Or just plain human?

[Huh. That's an amusing question. For all his time in Paradisa, this was the first time he'd been asked-- which was both surprising and unsurprising, given the circumstances.]

Nothing supernatural about me. I'd make a joke that my architectural abilities might be, but I don't even have that anymore.

[downright]

[ Chuckles. He's glad to hear Ted's normal. There's too many other kinds around this place. It's a little scary. ]

What do you do for a living here?

[teds_out]

[Bro you don't even know.]

I... don't? I've been here for awhile, but I haven't really considered doing something for a living until recently. I'm still not sure what it'll be, to be honest.

[downright]

Maybe you could start up a small architectural firm. Design some new buildings in town. Build offices, houses, apartments, that kind of thing.

Would that be possible?

[teds_out]

...yeah, when I said "I don't even have that anymore", I was talking literally.

[downright]

Oh. [ Wow. That's... ] Sorry to hear that. [ He's glad the castle allowed him to keep his surgical skills, etc. He has yet to figure out what his loss is cough--memories of his mother--cough, but it's probably nothing to worry about. ]

[teds_out]

Yeah, well... that's how it is. I'm keeping at it, though. Drawing every day in hopes I can get that back.

[downright]

Do you just feel uninspired? Or did the castle also take away your ability to come up with technical drawings?

[teds_out]

Puh. I wish I were uninspired. That would be easier to deal with.

[He gives pause. Do wishes work that way? After five seconds, he's determined he hasn't suddenly lost any interest in architecture, and sighs.]

It's kind of like-- a mix of being able to come up with anything, or able to draw it. I have an awesome skyscraper design back home, and I can remember it just fine, but... [He shrugs subconsciously.] I can't draw it for the life of me. I couldn't describe it to you, either.

Must be frustrating. [ It really sucks to be you, bro. ] Was there ever anything else you were interested in aside from architecture?

[teds_out]

As hobbies? Sure. For a career? [A smack of his tongue.] Not really.

[downright]

Well, I really hope you manage to figure something out.
