Weapons crafting class + journal post

[ It's a nice day to do some forging, amirite?

Which is why Tony's finally holding his first class. He usually likes to have a drink or two before teaching anything, but what with his loss and all, that's not seeming very likely.

So instead, he's just going to go through some basic metalworking techniques. No missiles for his class, but he knows more than enough about forging to get by for their usual stuff.


After he gets his class started, he's going to pull out his journal and make some comments. ]

All right. Tony Stark reporting in, here, with some... news. And stuff.

The Arena? That's closed. I don't know why, but that means if you want to practice your no-doubt stellar swordsmanship [ sarcasm go ] you're going to have to find somewhere new to do it. I personally recommend not practicing in your cabins, because blood is really hard to clean out of sheets.

Second, since it seems like you're supposed to make your own chariots for this race, you can come by and use the facilities here to work on it. I'm perfectly fine with it. In fact, if you're nice and say "please," I might even throw in some input on your design. Because, let's face it, you're about two-hundred percent likelier to win if your design is Stark-approved.

Aaaaand lastly. A question. Well, more like a request. I'm not good at asking for help, so. Yeah.

There's this lady. Good-looking, red hair. Goes by Pepper Potts, but her real name is Virginia. Hey, look, I know people named after states, too. Anyway, I haven't seen her around. Does anybody know what cabin she's in, and why she's been avoiding me? Thanks. You're all pals... Except Robin Hood. You're more like an annoying coworker.

Banging on some metal

[Daryl is only here to learn how to forge arrowheads. He's just going to be standing in the corner, watching, before actually going to do it himself.]

[Having decided to embrace his Hephaestus-hood, Jono's pounding out a sword, using his own flame breath to heat the metal. Despite only sort of knowing how the process works, he's not doing too badly of a job of it, though his sword looks more like a long claymore than a greek short sword, and is likely too heavy for most people to even pick up.]

[ That's... a pretty hefty piece of metal. ]

You're aware that the sword's going to come out even bigger than the metal you started off with, right?

Now I'm not going to say you're compensating, because that joke would just be way too easy, but are you even going to be able to swing that thing?

Yeah, he'll actually participate in this class.

...He has NO idea what he's doing, but he's at least giving a shot. And he's pretty damn strong for a kid his age.

Just ignore all the frustration and growls of rage as he keeps failing and stuff. He's actually glad to be here. Really.]

[ Tony wants to laugh at the kid. But he's better than that. He'll save the laughter for the adults who are failing spectacularly. ]

You might be heating the metal up too much.

You want to keep the metal at a yellow color, with a bit or orange. Once it starts to look white, it's being heated too much.

[Normally, one wouldn't expect a cute, 15 year old girl to be all that into metalworking. But Shiki's been doing all kinds of things people wouldn't expect at camp.

Plus, oh my god she wants to learn how to make armor she wants to be a warrior princess so badly and she wants pretty armor to match.

But she also knows that she's not nearly that good at metalworking yet.

So she's just going to start with making swords and shit, just like Tony's teaching everyone. Besides, swords are pretty cool, too!

...How good she is at all of this is up to you.]

Fletching

I think there's another instructor for here. If not, Tony'll just force Clint to help people out. Whatevs, whatevs. ]

Chariot building / critiques

[ If anybody wants to take Tony up on his offer and make their chariot, or get its design judged by Tony, this is the place to do it. ]

[Building a working racing chariot sounds far more difficult and entertaining than the other activities which seem ridiculously simple. So, have another engineer, Stark, though the Master's specialty is actually temporal engineering. Still, he'll be over here going through supplies and making plans.]
