[Zelos is bored out of his mind. Winter sucks, being stuck inside all the time sucks and aside from stealing some fireworks the festival isn't one of his interest (he wasn't one to honor elders after all). ]

[He's taken to lounging in the lobby, boredly flipping through the book when he's really watching every person who watch past. Mostly the girls but seeing if he can read the guys is fun too. He was being quiet too, until he decided to take a drink of some earth beverage called "coca-cola" that was in the fridge. ]

[He then promptly sneezes very loudly and sits up, spilling some and quickly putting the drink down like it's offended his ancestors]

Ugh!

Is this drink supposed to be fizzy?!

[Well that destroyed his incognito coolness]

Oh it's fine, da- Martel. I've washed worse things out of my clothes even if this will be a huge pain.

[He'll smile at her brightly]

So how are you?

Fine! I was just at the festival. Why are you sitting all alone?

Oh you know, just killing time, watching people. [He shrugs lightly] I didn't feel like going to the festival today.

[She sits down next to him on the couch.] Don't like being around people sometimes?

[He moves his legs down to the floor to give her more room; the answer is partly yes, but he jests instead] Nah, that'd be cool. Chicks really dig those sullen loner, antisocial types.

Just the whole sitting around, learning about all the accomplished figures in the past? I've already served many years time of that in spades. Fine if others are into that, but it doesn't seem like much of a party to me.

To be honest, I actually went to see the ghost wolves. They were very beautiful, and even better, they aren't trying to attack anyone.

[She looks at him, and then looks away.] I'm sorry. It's because of me that your life...wasn't ideal.

Ghost wolves? Now those I didn't hear about.

[At the second part he tenses just for a second before its gone] Hey, I already said that wasn't your fault, didn't I?

They've appeared today.

...I can't help feeling that it is. I don't remember him, but... Maybe I didn't teach him well enough.

Hmmm, maybe I can check those out. [Said coolly, cause acting otherwise is lame]

Of course you'd feel like that, but it's still not your fault. [Man maybe this is where Colette ~~and himself~~ get it] And I'm not the greatest expert on sibling relations, but I don't think there's anything that you did that could cause that. It was his choice, in the end.

[She closes her eyes, sighing.] I can't even remember him. Blaming myself wouldn't help anything or anyone. I can't even fix it either, though I wish I could.

[Jeez, what's something dorky that Colette or Lloyd would say...]

I know. But you'll just have to put your faith in all of us, as hard as that's to do...

It's not hard at all. [She turns to him and smiles softly.] I trust you... and Lloyd and Colette and Yuan, to fix the world and take care of it now that I'm gone.

[Heh...from her expression, her tone...it's sincere. He knows she's no Goddess, but it's still unnerving that she specifically included him on that list; she's flipping Martel for crying out loud. But as always, he plays it cool and cheerful]

Of course! I got no intention to let it go back to how it was and Lloyd's way more stubborn than I am. And it's not just us four- we got even more stubborn idiots back home you can trust.

[She smiles at him again, a bigger smile this time.] Then I will trust them too, to fix the world and help the new tree grow.

[He smiles back and holds up his index finger as a hand gesture] Right! So stop worrying and apologizing to me about my existence. Just keep on trusting and whatever will be, will be.

You're much prettier when you smile anyway.

Thank you! ...You should smile more too.

Flattering, but I smile all the time.

Not really. You just smile because you want people to think you're smiling.

[Well that shut him up. ]

You look so much nicer when you smile, actually smile. It lights up your face. [She looks over at him.] If you're not happy, you shouldn't smile. It just hurts to pretend your happy.

[There's a long silence before he answer, trying to think of the proper response. Something that isn't lashing out or shoving her away, as his first impulse is to do. But mostly because...no one has directly called him on his act. Not in a way he couldn't evade before. ]

[Finally he shakes his head and offers a smile that is more empty and cold in nature. It's habit at this point, really]

Afraid that's only true if you got people around who care. [a shrug] I sorta...have short supply of that.

[He hates being vulnerable so it's time to answer very coldly, even if part of him knows she's just being nice. ]

You barely know me, okay? Don't make claims like that about me.

I'm not making any claims about you at all. I don't know you as well as I'd like to, but I'm still your friend. At least, I'd like to be one.
