Three Spoons {Dictation}
[This entry is backdated to about midmorning on July 1st.]
[There are some dainty sniffles coming from the journal today, as if they came from someone who had just begun to recover from a cry, and not even the good kind of cry that makes you feel better. A couple cake batter fingerprints appear, and then are hastily wiped away. That only smudges the paper.]
Oh...I'm sorry about that, I...
[A pause. Jane blows her nose.]
I was...cleaning up a mess...in the kitchen. I'm really sorry about all of that batter...in the sink...that's my fault...!
[Oh sugar, her voice is cracking. Better make this quick.]
I think I'm...ready to admit to my loss...
{Filtered to - Anyone who confronted her about her loss}
All of you were right. I'm sorry I was so prickly about it before.

Would you still...let someone into the baking club even if they couldn't bake...?

Hey, it's okay. Maybe you can try something else, a new hobby. I know it won't be the same, but it'll be something new to conquer and get really good at, right?

[Oh dear, she's starting to cry a little again. And she was doing so well before!]

Oh pfft. So who says you have to do exactly what your family do? My family lived and worked on a farm, that doesn't make me a farmer.

I-I know...
[Jane takes a minute to breathe and sniffle and try to reign her emotions back in.]
It's...something I've always looked forward to, though...
[Even if the game kind of made it impossible to pursue, she always kept her idea of a future heading CrockerCorp as her dream.]

But hey, this means you can learn something new, and get really good at that. Not let the castle beat you down.

[She's quiet for a little bit, except for a couple of sniffles. Those don't seem to stop.]
I understand that, but...

There are a few things.

And...just keep trying, then?

Exactly! You've got a ton of that...optimism stuff going for you, put it to good use.

I'll see if I can scrounge some up, then. Hopefully it hasn't decided to hide on me when I need it the most.
[There's one last sniff. Someone's feeling a bit better.]

[Way to go, Once, you made a girl feel better about herself]

I certainly hope not.
