Three Spoons {Dictation}

[This entry is backdated to about midmorning on July 1st.]

[There are some dainty sniffles coming from the journal today, as if they came from someone who had just begun to recover from a cry, and not even the good kind of cry that makes you feel better. A couple cake batter fingerprints appear, and then are hastily wiped away. That only smudges the paper.]

Oh...I'm sorry about that, I...

[A pause. Jane blows her nose.]

I was...cleaning up a mess...in the kitchen. I'm really sorry about all of that batter...in the sink...that's my fault...!

[Oh sugar, her voice is cracking. Better make this quick.]

I think I'm...ready to admit to my loss...

{Filtered to - Anyone who confronted her about her loss}

All of you were right. I'm sorry I was so prickly about it before.

Would you still...let someone into the baking club even if they couldn't bake...?

[Well it's not as bad as it was before? The stove is still covered in goop inside and out, and there's still a few bowls left to be scrubbed. Jane's over by the sink scrubbing spoons and whisks and things.]

Jane?

[ 5'1" chick coming through. Her eyes settle on the stove, though. ]

Oh...

[cyan_maid]

Hm?

[She looks up at you, and it takes her a moment, but she smiles a little. Those eyes are still red.] Uru?

Still crying?!

[cyan_maid]

Huh?!

[Jane starts to rub her eyes for tears. They're not wet, but her eyes are a bit more sore now.]

I'm not crying...!

[amiable]

They're red! [ She steps into the room, looking worried. ]

[cyan_maid]

Are they?

[Where's a metal bowl that's not too dirty - ah there we go, get a good look Jane.]

Oh, geez, I look a right mess...

[amiable]

[ She swipes a tissue from a Kleenex box and holds it out for her. ]

Well, that's okay. Losses aren't always easy.

[cyan_maid]

Oh! Thank you...

[She'll dab at her eyes a bit before she blows her nose daintily.]

So - you're Uru, right?

[amiable]

[ She smiles at her and nods. ]

It's nice to meet you in person finally!

[ Of course, they might even be around the same age but Uru doesn't look a day older than sixteen thanks to the castle. (Er well, she looks younger than that thanks to being 5'1".) ]

[That is an honest-to-goodness grin Jane is giving you now.]

It most certainly is!

[amiable]

Okay, where should I start first with cleaning? [ READY TO HELP. ]

[cyan_maid]

Um...[Oh that was sudden. Jane kind of glances around trying to find something not so huge for her to work on.]

You could - take care of those bowls?

[amiable]

Alright! [ She marches over to where the bowls are, rolling up the sleeves. ] If we work together, we'll be able to clean up in no time!

[cyan_maid]

Mm, definitely!

[Jane finishes up the spoons and then starts gathering up some sprays and sponges and paper towels to tackle the oven.]

So! How have you been today?

[amiable]

[ She starts running the water at the sink so she can rinse out the bowls first. At the same time, she grabs a sponge and the dish soap. A couple of ghosts hover about like they're waiting for instructions to help, but Uru waves them off. ]

I'm good! Actually, I feel even better to finally meet you and help out in the kitchen! I really think a lot of people just wish for things instead of cook here.

[cyan_maid]

[Ah yes, they'd had this conversation. Jane nods and smiles as she reaches a hand in the oven tentatively. Yep, it's cool. Better get to scrubbing it.]

Well, I'm grateful for your company! And it is definitely nice to meet you in person.

[amiable]

Sorry if I made you wait a while! I live in the town, so I have to walk all the way back here.

[cyan_maid]

You walked all the way from town just to help me?!

Isn't that really inconvenient, though?

[amiable]

It's not very far! It's only a fifteen minute walk or so.

[cyan_maid]

Well, if you're sure...

[Wow augh she still feels bad about it though. Just get back to scrubbing, Jane!]

So, um. You moved out of the castle? What is life in the city like?

[amiable]

It's very quiet actually! I like it there.

[cyan_maid]

I assume that your job is for rent and utilities and the like?

[amiable]

That's right! It's the same thing as back home.
