01 | In which a wizard is misplaced [Dictated]

Hmmm. [There's the sound of pages flipping rapidly] That's quite an interesting trick…I wonder how it… Oh. Is it recording? That is fascinating. I wonder just how that's been put together. I might have a use for a spell like that.

[A brief pause.] Ah. That's a bit rude of me. I'm sure you all have better things to listen to than my rambling. You can hear this, right? I'd look like a madman rambling to a book, otherwise, and I don't think I'm quite ready to add that to my list of undesirable traits quite yet. At any rate, if there is someone out there, perhaps you can help. As charming as this castle seems to be upon first glance, I'd much rather be in mine, and I seem to have misplaced it. If one's come floating by, I'd be ever so grateful if you'd point me to it.

No matter how often I see it done, I'll never get used to everyone speaking into books. Books are meant to be read, not used as some sort of low-tech phone.

Haven't seen any other castles around, though. Try wishing. I've heard it helps.

It's certainly not the oddest thing I've ever seen a book used for.

Wishing? That's... quaint. I suppose trying can't hurt.

I suppose it makes more sense than cutting a book up to use it to hide away money like some University students I knew.

The wishes can backfire, I've heard. I try to do it sparingly.

Cutting up books is an abysmal thing to do.

The better to keep people from abusing it, I'm sure. I'll keep that in mind.

Most books. There's some that I could see cutting up being an improvement on, really.

[While everyone has picked up the oddity of a floating castle, which he certainly isn't discounting, Felix has focused himself on the key use of the word 'spell', and while he doesn't always bother with new arrivals these days, this one consequently sparks his interest]

I haven't been able to figure it out either, but then we're dealing with a type of magic that I'd wager is rather different than your own.

Though if I'm incorrect that puts you more than few steps closer to knowing how to get us all out of here.

I admit, it's not anything I've encountered before. If I had my books... but they're all at home, which isn't much help at all.

I'm not the only abductee, I take it? I'm not sure if I find that a relief or not.

As it happens, there's an extensive library here as well, and since the castle appears to enjoy collecting book as much as it enjoy collecting people.

So no, you aren't the only one.

At least it's diverse in its kleptomania. I assume there's no easy way back to where I came from, then.
