The lake can be nice, if you have the right stuff, but really anywhere between the Town and the Forest is nice, though I would be wary of what is in the Forest itself.

Sounds like you've gotten around. What's lurking in the forest to warrant a warning?

The Dead Zone removes all powers you may have, and I have heard tell of dangerous creatures that might lurk in and beyond it. The forest itself as your usual natural worries - bears, boars, the like.

Good thing I'm nothing but muscle. [Though the information is stored away. It could potentially be bad if he tried to rely on Materia in this so-called Dead Zone.]

I am not sure how safe it is, but I did spend some time out in the ruins on an expedition. It seemed relatively safe and if the magics are still in place, protected.
