[River had been feeling a bit off all day, but she hadn't been able to figure out why up until just this moment. She'd had this unbearable thirst all day that couldn't be slaked no matter how many glasses of water or lemonade she drank. Not to mention she seemed to be having a bit of a problem visiting other people's rooms. She'd wanted to see how Helen was doing, but instead of knocking and entering, all she could do was stare at the door. For some reason she couldn't enter.

That was odd.

She'd been hearing drums all day. Fearing she'd gone off her rocker like the Master, she hadn't realized what it was until recently.

Heartbeat.

She was hearing the beating hearts of anyone who passed by her.

And they were starting to smell pretty tasty.

Then all the pieces of the puzzle finally clicked together]

It seems the castle has decided to mess around with my physiology. I'd recommend that everyone avoid me for the time being. No one is in immediate danger, but it's best to be on the safe side.

How much experience would you guys say you have in dealing with vampires?

I'm going to need some help. I don't really know what's going on here, just that I've developed a serious craving for blood. I don't want to hurt anyone, so I'm hoping someone out there can offer some assistance in how to deal with this?

I think the clinic has blood for you guys to use.

I knew we had a little bit of a vampire population here, but I didn't know the clinic was giving out blood to them.

This is...pretty bizarre. There are no vampires where I'm from. I mean, there are vampire-like aliens, but they're not really vampires.

Not so bad just yet. It's kind of like being thirsty all the time....but I imagine it probably gets worse if I don't get some blood in me.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I wonder if you could get it done intravenously instead, or if that wouldn't work. There has to be a vampire physiologist around here somewhere.

...Well, that rules a loss out to be the cause of it. Joy.

Anyway. If you go to the clinic, they'll offer you free blood. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could heat it up.

Someone else already mentioned the clinic. Do you know which person I should approach?

And does it taste better heated up?

I wouldn't know the answer to either of those questions. I don't drink blood any more.

Oh, they never go away. I just learned how to manage mine.

Still, I'd strongly suggest the clinic. The vampires I speak to who still drink blood say it's a pretty safe option.
