but its pretty far obviously and i dont know that we can make the trip when its this cold
so i thought id build up the west outpost a little in the meantime
as a jumping off point

[shit, okay. So Adachi was a little more okay with the idea of keeping a pet Shadow than he was when he discovered the thing. But the little guy definitely had to stay a secret, for both their sakes.

...This was proving a little difficult, as today the little black blob slipped through the door the instant he had a chance, darting off with Adachi running behind]

[And, of course, the Whitelighter in him senses something's gone wrong. Cole stands up from his chair and orbing to where Adachi was.]

Hey is everything-

[He's cut off as Adachi trips and falls right on him!]

[About 10 seconds after impact, he tries to get back up]

[Cole lets Adachi get back up before standing himself, dusting his suit off.]

No... not really... creatures like him can be but he's very docile and playful, honest!

[He's just going to mosey on down the hallway]

Well... he is a Shadow so I guess... kinda, yeah?

Oh... I'm Adachi.

...Stupid castle

[oh wait, something caught his eye. A little black blob peaking out from around the corner down the hall. DAD WHERE YOU BEEN, TAG IS BORING WHEN YOU'RE NOT EVEN BEING CHASED]

Blacky! [the Shadow jumps and darts off] Young man, get back here! [aaaand he's going to start running now]

[Cole tries to predict where the Shadow is going to go, before orbing off and into it's path.

If he was able to judge it right, he scoops down to try and pick the...thing up as it runs past.]

[and he did judge right! Blacky pauses for a moment, confused about suddenly being picked up. Then he starts flailing his little arms and screeching.

It takes Adachi a little while longer to get there, although he does eventually.]

Y-You got him!

I was lucky. Here.

[He holds out the screeching Shadow.] Curious little thing, mind.

[Blacky practically jumps into Adachi's arms once they're open to him. Sudden appearing strangers scare him, so no more tag. :{

Adachi for his part cradles him in his arms like you would any pet.]

Ah well... [curious indeed. But Adachi doesn't want to get into just how curious he is so he changes the subject] Thanks a lot though! If he'd been caught by the wrong person, he might not be here right now!

Why's that? He seems harmless enough.

Oh, he is! He definitely is so long as no one attacks him I think. But uh... well how do I put it... Back home some of his "brothers and sisters" weren't... so harmless...

Yeah, I can see how that would affect people's judgement.

[He leans in, holding a hand out to Blacky]

[Blacky stares for a moment, before extending a wiggly arm and wrapping its hand around one of Cole's fingers. :3 He likes it when people are nice to him.]

He's pretty cute, though. For a being of darkness.

Well uh... he's not really a being of darkness. He's just... made from fragments of undesirable human thoughts...

...I guess that's true. [he definitely won't deny that.] Still, darkness makes them sound kinda evil... [he looks down at the Shadow in his arms] You just want acceptance, don't you Blacky, huh?

[Blacky does whatever must be the Shadow version of purring... still sounds a little like some kind of awful, ear hurting sound if it were any higher, but hey.]
