¤ 40 - A Monster

[caught between the gnawing stagnation that living in his place brings, and the weird tension of a murder having occurred recently, Zuko seriously needs something to take his mind off of things.

He needs a hobby.

So, he's heading out to the stables, hoping that the mongoose dragon is still there... and that it won't maul him once he finds it]

[filtered to Xena]

Hey. Uh... I was wondering if you were still offering lessons, now that we're back.

I wanted to--

[/filter]

[but then, as he enters the stables and his eyes adjust to the light... he's met with something even more intimidating than a mongoose dragon. There's a small crash as he staggers back a few paces]

--Why is there a polar bear dog in the stables??

Yeah? What about the other things here, huh? You've got to have seen some of those.

Other things aren't the size of a house!

[and speaking of other things, he's going to start edging around them so he can go check out the mongoose dragon]

She's barely the size of an igloo! Stop making excuses if you're scared.

[honorinflames]

[there's just a 'tch' under his breath at that suggestion. And then he heads over to the the mongoose dragon... which doesn't seem terribly impressed with the giant animal right outside it's pen. Or with Zuko, for that matter. It seems pretty content right where its at, and stays hanging around the back wall]

[polar]

[Korra scowls, then when Zuko's facing away from her, whispers to Naga. The big dog moves to stand behind Zuko... before licking his head.]

why is he always getting licked by giant white animals? :T

[honorinflames]

--EEUGH!

[good job guys, he never saw it coming. All he can do is whirl around and flail to try to push the dog's face farther away from him]

animal magnetism!

[polar]

Nice one, Naga! [Full blown laughter from Korra. Also, sorry, Zuko, it'll take a lot more pushing than that.]

[and spirits he is trying! bracing his back against the stall door so he can shove the animal's face away]

Get it off of me!

[polar]

[WHUFF!! Zuko, your hair is now a complete disaster. As he's shoving his hardest (to no avail), Naga then takes a sudden step back.]

[honorinflames]

Ugh! [he staggers a step forward, barely catching himself on the wall, before throwing himself back against the stall door again to put as much space as he can between him and the giant animal.

...and also dragging a hand over his hair. ugh.]

Control that thing!

[polar]

Look at that. She likes you!

[She stands there with her arms crossed, a smug look on her face.]

[oh, all the glaring ever]

Yeah, great. [--while wiping his face off on his sleeve]
