I think trick just about covers it. [Steve also finds it suspicious it's suddenly trying to discourage wishing. This feels more like a mean spirited prank than a game changer.]

Guess we'll have to wait to see if the others get better. If this keeps up people might have to leave and I don't think it wants that.

Ease up, cowboy. I'm fine. I don't do much wishing at all. I'm too far out when I'm at my place and when I'm in the castle, I'm just not very trusting of open hands like that.
