I've been talking to a few people about this--this change with death and how the bodies don't disappear any more, and how if you destroy the body it hurts the person coming back. So I was thinking, in my time we have what are called cryosleep chambers that we use on long space flights. Essentially, they keep a person alive but in stasis until we reach our destinations. It's no big deal, I've been in cryo dozens of times. Anyway, I was thinking something like that could help preserve the bodies, and if they do start showing signs of life the chambers can be calibrated to wake them up and let them out right away.

Would any of you be willing to help me build something like that? I have the schematics already.

Anyway, even with the worst situations, we've never had more than five or ten people in the castle dead at a time, so "mass" production really wouldn't be necessary. A bank of about six would be more than we need for almost anything.

Sounds better than anything else I've seen people talk about around here. And you're sure the low temperate won't harm the bodies? I mean, it's not like they can produce body heat to counteract it if they're dead.

Naw. It's a medical procedure - I've been under cryo plenty of times. It's like, oh, toads that hibernate in the winter. Their heartbeat slows down to a tiny crawl, but they don't actually freeze. You can be out of cryo and into a battle in less than ten minutes.

Oh. Well then sure, I can see that working. Least then we don't have to worry about burying anyone 'alive' or anything grim like that.

A little bigger than human-sized so we can get the equipment as part of it, but essentially, yeah. It'd have to have redundant power, of course--I have schematics for what the standard cryo tubes look like in my world.

Gotcha. We can work from your schematics, maybe set it up to run not only on castle power, but battery backups, and maybe a generator if worst comes to worst. Did you have a time in mind when we'd get to work?

Oh, yes. Cryostasis gets used quite a great deal for long space voyages on a number of planets. I've seen several different variations on the system. They were all [freaking creepy] more or less effective. Some more than others.

Where were you thinking on keeping the systems? Any ideas as yet? I've a few of my own, if not.

I know this is going to sound dumb, so bear with me. When someone died, their body would stick around for about an hour and then disappear. Two weeks later, the person would wake up in their own bed in their castle room.

Nowadays, apparently the bodies stick around, and if it gets--damanged, the dead person feels it. Cause it has to rebuild it.

Reason I'm thinking to put them in the old Peace Patrol HQ is so we can keep them secure. It's only a matter of time before we get some crazy shithead who likes to dick around with dead bodies.

I'm hoping so. A lot of times, back home they'd put someone in cryo if they needed medical attention that wasn't easily available. This is just a somewhat creepy extension of the same thing.

I'm familiar with it, in a way. It's better than just letting the body sit there and is probably more likely to stop decomposition than just using something like a freezer. Unless it's a really cold freezer.
