[Backdated to Saturday afternoon so as not to spam the comm. York had thought about what Kat said about Carolina and Wash being there to help her, and he was hoping that meant Carolina was off her loss. Because it had to have been a loss, right? Well, if she wasn't, she probably wouldn't respond to a filter to Carolina anyway.]

[Carolina]

Hey. Can we talk?

[Filtered to Tony Stark and anyone else familiar with advanced technology that would not use this information for harm]

I've been talking to a few people about this--this change with death and how the bodies don't disappear any more, and how if you destroy the body it hurts the person coming back. So I was thinking, in my time we have what are called cryosleep chambers that we use on long space flights. Essentially, they keep a person alive but in stasis until we reach our destinations. It's no big deal, I've been in cryo dozens of times. Anyway, I was thinking something like that could help preserve the bodies, and if they do start showing signs of life the chambers can be calibrated to wake them up and let them out right away.

Would any of you be willing to help me build something like that? I have the schematics already.

Captain America was part of a project that was put on ice. Literally. Long story.

Actually, short story, that was pretty much it.

I think I can help out a bit. Got a project of my own I'm starting, though, so no promises.

[Boy does he still have so many uneasy feelings about people coming back from the dead, but hey if they're going to anyway, might as well make the process as bearable as possible for them]

Sounds better than anything else I've seen people talk about around here. And you're sure the low temperate won't harm the bodies? I mean, it's not like they can produce body heat to counteract it if they're dead.

Oh. Well then sure, I can see that working. Least then we don't have to worry about burying anyone 'alive' or anything grim like that.

[personal profile] zeke_developer 2012-07-16 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! That sounds like a really good idea, actually. So like...we'd need pods roughly man-sized, with medical diagnostic equipment built in to monitor a person's life signs? That'd be an easy enough thing to build.
zeke_developer: (smile)

[personal profile] zeke_developer 2012-07-19 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotcha. We can work from your schematics, maybe set it up to run not only on castle power, but battery backups, and maybe a generator if worst comes to worst. Did you have a time in mind when we'd get to work?

Oh, yes. Cryostasis gets used quite a great deal for long space voyages on a number of planets. I've seen several different variations on the system. They were all [freaking creepy] more or less effective. Some more than others.

Where were you thinking on keeping the systems? Any ideas as yet? I've a few of my own, if not.

...No, that still sounds less crazy than people spontaneously turning into cats.

Some kind of cryostasis system sounds like a good idea. So long as the castle's not fussy... I could probably help.

I'm familiar with it, in a way. It's better than just letting the body sit there and is probably more likely to stop decomposition than just using something like a freezer. Unless it's a really cold freezer.
