[Ezio is about to bust out the most intense filter work of his life. He has never done a complicated filter before, and he needs to do this right.]

[he clears his throat, then in that thick Italian accent:]

Hello... my name is Ezio Auditore, and I seek an inventor or mechanic or... esperto of some kind. I have obtained an object of great importance, but I do not know what it does, or what it is capable of.

But I need someone I can trust, someone with the right... sensitivities for this object.

[Still more thick Italian accent:]

I seek information about Pope Alexander VI.

Sounds like my favorite kind of object.

[a pause]

And what would you like to know about the Pope?

[another pause]

And are those two requests connected somehow?

[He's surprised he's getting a reply on both, because everyone seems to swing one way or the other before this.]

Ah... no, they are unrelated.

I would like to know how he changes the history of Roma, but also how he dies.

[He picks up on the surprise but is unphased]

How did he change history? Oh, let's see... He helped found King's College, a great deal of artists worked for him, helping bring about a new era in architecture... He also welcomed thousands of Jews who'd just been kicked out of their own countries, much to their dismay. He also had quite a habit of poisoning cardinals and stealing their belongings from what I've heard.

As far as how he died? Well that all depends on who you speak to. Some say it was malaria. Some say he was poisoned with cantarella by his son, Cesare. Either way it was a rather nasty way to go.

[That... hits a little harder than he expected. Poisoned by Cesare, that's promising -- maybe he framed the kid -- but it's still not what he wanted to hear. He wanted to hear about what an awful, horrible man Borgia was, have SOME sort of public record of the crimes he's committed against more than just Cardinals. What about innocent people?

Then again, he couldn't have hoped to hear "an Assassin killed him in broad daylight" or something. That would have been shoddy work.

Ezio keeps his voice level, but a bit of disappointment and frustration seeps through.]

Sure? Of course I'm sure! Those are just a few of the things he's most known for. Oh the stories I could tell you about slavery and bribery and France oh I could go on for hours. His son was an interesting character, himself. I haven't spent too long in that time. I keep meaning to, though. The Papacy isn't nearly as exciting in the 21st century.

[Annoyed. How dare you sound upbeat about this.]

And it all happens for nothing if he does not pay for his crimes. Is he never held accountable?

[Because history is FUN and INTERESTING]

Hmm? Which? Alexander or Cesare? The Pope is remembered more for his darker history rather than his more positive contributions. Might I ask why all the interest? I ask because you seem to have a more... specific... interest than most.

The fates of many are bound to the fate of a powerful man. But it doesn't matter.

Lucrezia Borgia -- his daughter –– is here. If you meet her, tell her nothing of her father's crimes, and do not tell her how he meets his end. She's still a child, at least when it comes to her father.

Oh yes. We're not all pulled from the same universe. Not even the same time.

I have heard this mentioned before, but I don't understand that it means.

There are people here from 1990, 2009, 2071 and many times before, after and in between. Even people who came from the same relative time came from different worlds, oftentimes different versions of Earth. However, there's only one Earth in the universe - believe me, I've checked - so different Earths mean different universes.

[He's trying to wrap his head around that.]

So God created many Earths... how did man find out about this?

[Is going to ignore the God part of that statement, considering when this guy is most likely from]

Probably by being nosy as always. [He laughs]
