Are all American women so fickle?

What, you haven't met enough to figure that out yourself?

And besides, are you saying women from your time and place aren't? People in general are fickle, y'know.

Yes, but it's a different sort of fickle. You American women have different concerns than a Florentine woman, or a Venetian woman.

Which are what, finding a husband and popping out some kids?

[Eyebrow raise. What is your history class teaching you, girl?]

Many women want that, yes, but that's a given for them, not a concern.

What do they teach you in these history classes?

Not enough, apparently...

And lots of stuff that goes in one ear and out the other. To be fair, I never thought I'd need to use it.

That or American scholars know precious little about us.

Nonono, it's definitely that. You'd probably be surprised about how much has been found out about your time, but not everyone gets educated about it. When I learned about it--high school--it was just sort of a... glimpse into it. An hour a day, five days a week, for not even a year. Covering a lot of stuff, and that's not taking into consideration all the times we goofed off in class or I didn't show go.

This is why books are good.

That's disappointing. My time is revolutionary. I would think that everyone would want to know about us.

I think my college has an Italian studies major or something like that...

Even so... the women I know in Firenze and Venezia know what they want, and when they want it. They are... demanding, you could say. The American women I've met here are flighty.

[Hey, they are demanding without being bratty.]

I met a woman at the bar. Beautiful woman, nothing but confidence. She took a challenge without hesitation. We talked about wine and Venetian food, and she said she was familiar. When I asked her to step out with me, she agreed! But then she said she needed to check her schedule, and would let me know. As of yet, she hasn't.

Now... if she wasn't interested, that is fine. That is her privilege. But why does a beautiful woman with such confidence not have the fortitude to simply say so? Any good Italian woman would speak frankly.

Maybe she was interested, and just happens to be really busy? Or forgot? Or maybe she wasn't THAT interested, but didn't want to hurt your feelings with an outright rejection? Or, she couldn't tell at that point... [Shrug.] It happens.
