So the guests we had during the festival -- one of them was Avatar Roku, a.. well, sort of celebrated hero from my world. Maybe - well. It's complicated. But he's still kind of a hero of legend, and I also kind of chickened out while he was here.

.. and I'm not entirely sure why I'm telling the whole castle this, either. [A small puff of irritation.] Just, um. If you have a chance at something here, I guess, don't chicken out and let it get away. I guess. Agh, I'm rambling worse than my brother.

[And, sounding slightly embarrassed, she shuts the journal.]

Well.. each life is different. It's not like the Avatar is born with all the memories of his or her past life.

I figured that. But in my world, when you die you can choose to be reborn.

Really? -- but why? How?

[waterproofed]

Well, first you gotta live a good life and die a hero. And if you do, you can choose to be reborn. And if you do that enough times, you get the best afterlife.

Oh -- so it's not something that happens to everyone.

Nope, and not everyone chooses it.

[waterbends]

It sounds.. confusing.

It was at first, but you get used to it.

Have you been reborn before? Or is that too personal of a question?

I don't really know.

Aang communes with his past lives. I guess it's an Avatar thing.
