[She's avoiding her studies. Her notes set aside, but still in hand as she turns around the corner. Her laughter echoes on the walls of the castle. She's certain someone will hear her. Someone will tell her that she's being irresponsible, that she should mind her lessons. It is for her own improvement. Yet, she is bored with the lessons and instead wishes to find something far more enjoyable.

She moves to turn down the south corridor, but instead she's met with a wall. The sudden shift of landscape startles her and the book she'd been holding launches from her hand, opening to blank pages on the floor near her feet.]

This is quite unsettling. I am certain that the south corridor was here this morning.

[Stepping away from the wall, she turns around and looks for her misplaced book.]

I suppose I am to return to my studies, if I am not able to find my way around what is to be my home. [She says it out loud, but scoops her book up and instead turns around to race the other way. Ignoring her studies once more. They will be there in the morning.]

Sayaka stares at the text on the page, wondering if it is her, or somebody who sounds similar.

[She turns around at the sound of the voice, but sees no one there.]

Hello?

[squartatore]

[more loudly:] The journal. Can you hear me?

[eternityalone]

[She lifts the book that is in her hands, realizing the pages are still open.][She stares at the page, watching her words appear.]

I can hear you and it seems this book is listening.

[squartatore]

That's the idea, yes. Did you lose your way?

[eternityalone]

I believe I have. I am unsure of where I have ended up. I thought I was at the Estate, but I cannot seem to find my way back to my chambers.

[squartatore]

[a new arrival, then. There's a moment of floundering as she wonders how to go about this, not accustomed to being the one doing so]

This isn't your estate. You should have a room of your own, though.

[eternityalone]

My own room? Where would I find it?

Sorry to say, but I thiiiiink it might be kind of hard to get home right now.

[We'll just assume someone explained the journal so that it's not two conversations about where the voice is coming from.]

Oh? Are you unable to travel from here?

[optimystic]

Pretty much. This is going to sound weird, so bear with me.

... You're stuck in a magic castle right now.

It does sound quite unbelievable, but this book it is able to write down my words and I have not traveled here of my own choice.

A magic castle, though, that seems quite silly.

[optimystic]

Yeah, it's all pretty silly. That's kind of the secret to getting by here, don't take anything too seriously, and be nice to people!

But I promise, it's true.

You do sound very honest. I am Katerina Petrova, it is nice to speak with you.

I know showing up here can be really weird, but I promise it'll be okay! I've been here for a while, so I can tell you what you need to know.

I do appreciate the positive outlook. It makes it seem much easier knowing that I am not alone in this venture.

[Neal just happens to be wandering the castle when he spots the familiar form. She's dressed differently, but there's something ... distinct about her.]

Katherine?

[the name escapes before he can shove it back, but he knows better. It's probably just another person with her face. That happens a lot around here.]

[She turns, gathering her skirts a bit in her hands. She smiles at the man, he seems very kind. Of course, she knows not to trust everyone - but there is nothing wrong with a smile.]

It is Katerina, but I am sure it is similar to the other name. It would be easy to mistake them.

[there is absolutely nothing wrong with a smile. In fact, Neal will return hers, before shaking his head. Castle memories forgotten, as usual.]

My apologies. From a distance, you look like someone I know. It was my mistake.

[he pauses,before extending a hand to her]

My name is Neal.

[She bows her head a bit, before moving over to him to accept his proffered hand. Her touch is light and she even curtseys slightly when she takes it.]

It is very nice to meet you, Neal. Are you living in this castle as well?

[He gives her hand a small squeeze, but tries to keep with the customs of the time. Even if he's not exactly dressed like he belongs there.]

Yes, I am. I've been living here a little over a year now.

A year? That seems such a long time to be in captivity.

I was held for longer elsewhere. And these are much nicer accommodations.

[ Chase is heading towards the clinic when he bumps into Katerina and her ancient looking outfit.]

A little too early for Halloween, don't you think? [ Or a little too old to play dress up.

Wow, Chase. Just how long have you been here now? ]

[She turns to face him and smiles, bowing her head slightly.]

I am not sure what you mean. What is hollow-een? [Halloween wasn't around in the 15th century.]
