[Cloud's at the stables, he's been there long enough to actually approach to a particular white mare with black mane and tail --that reminds him very much to Odin's horse--, which he's petting as he examines her. He can't get over the fact that horses only have four legs... Where are the other two?

None of the horses look like they would last a day out there carrying him and the Buster Sword, leave alone all the other stuff he's supposed to bring for the expedition...

The mare seems curious about his hair, and she tries to either smell it or take a munch out of it. Cloud doesn't let her do any of that and in the process of stopping her gently, the journal falls from his pocket, opening as it usually does in these circumstances; without him noticing.]

--stop that... Chocobos do that too...

Horses, giant lizards, but no chocobos. Castle, you suck.

What's a hippogriff anyway?

A mythical creature that's half bird, half horse. They're very proud creatures and need to be shown respect by any who wish to interact with them.

Yes, though the creature isn't known only in my world. I think many variatons of Earth might have stories about hippogriffs.

How do you show respect to them anyway?

You look them in the eye and bow to them. If they bow back, that is their sign that they also show you respect. If they don't... it's best to back away.
