I had no idea so many things could be fried. I mean, I've been to fairs before, but I must have somehow missed this trend.

It's fascinating in a... turns-my-stomach kind of way.

And the fried cheesecake. Topped with fried ice cream.

Yeah, the candy bars were a new thing, I hadn't seen those before. ... Did'ja find anything new you like, though?

I finally gave in and had a deep-fried Mars bar. It's surprisingly good, and, well, carnivals are all about the junk food.

It's true, they really are - did you see the place with the eclairs the size of your head?! I got one to have later.

[right now though, a drip of ketchup finds its way onto the page. mmm. fries.]

Oh, so the journals pick up on food stains, too? That's funny.

I'm having a look around the carnival and still marveling at how many things people have thought to dip in batter and deep-fry.

They do, yeah, they pick up most liquids, anything that'll leave a mark on regular paper. It's pretty awesome.

... I'm over by the pop gun game stand, you want some company walkin' around? I could come find you.

I'd like that. I haven't met many people face-to-face here; just do a lot of journal-watching.

Oh, you really do need to meet people, some of them are just terrific! I'll have to introduce you to all my friends. [warning. he has A LOT]

That'd be nice. I'm normally a quiet person; sometimes I need a little push to be social.

Okay! [thankfully, he remembers to give her some details, since they've only ever talked over the journal] I've got jeans on, and a blue plaid shirt - I'll see you soon?

I've got on a gray jacket with yellow stripes, if that makes it easier to look for me, too.

[She was now moving as she talked, and a tiny smear of chocolate appeared on the journal.]

Sure does! I'll keep my eyes peeled. [and so he does, though occasionally he gets distracted watching people playing the midway games]

[It takes a few minutes, but eventually Jennifer spots someone wearing that outfit; she gives the man a tentative wave.]

Ray?

That's me! Dr. Keller, that you? [he grins, already moving toward her even if, well, she isn't]

[forsometimenow]

That's me. [She smiles back, despite feeling that natural tug away from people that usually happened in social situations, for a multitude of reasons.] Well, I'm glad to finally be able to put a face to a name.
