The Carnival! (DAY TWO)

[Today, the rides are open all day and all the fried food anyone could possibly want. Besides the general buzzing and whirring of the carnival itself, there's no music playing. So have a nice break from the eclectic selection until tonight! Around the set-up small flyers can be seen bearing the following inscription:]

[Carolina's grin starts to dim.]

Taking down an oil platform of armed guards doesn't scare you, but this thing does?

[She freezes for a moment, then gives her head a little shake.] That was different.

[It wasn't anywhere near flying, that's for sure.]

This is less dangerous. [Carolina gestures with her head toward the scrambler again, crossing her arms.]

Nnnnn-- that's debatable. [She's out of armor, she hasn't had anything for motion sickness since she arrived, and Carolina was grinning like a freak when she stepped off it. Obviously that can only mean bad things.]

[Clearly grinning is a sign of terrible things.] You're strapped in, South. It doesn't leave the ground.

Yeah, you know, I actually prefer it when I move and the ground doesn't. [She's going to try moving on now, that grin is really making her nervous >.> ]

[Carolina doesn't reach out physically to South, but does follow her movement with a quick step to the side, trying to block her.]

Take a chance, South.

[South stops and glances down at her in slight irritation.] On what? Losing my lunch? No thank you.

Never stopped you before. [Well, she'd endured flying with a certain level of complaining.]

Not like I had a choice. [Thoughtfully munching some popcorn a moment, she doesn't want Carolina to know she hasn't been keeping up with her motion sickness medication, because damn if there's been absolutely no point to it here so far.]

[Carolina frowns a little deeper at South. She can't make the other woman go on the ride, really.]

You really don't want to ride it.

It'd pretty much be the worst idea, yeah. [Making her a little nervous, Boss ...]

[Carolina stares levely over at South for a few moments.]

You might not get another opportunity like this for a long time.

[i_got_this]

[South stares levelly back. This was edging uncomfortably close to challenge territory.]

Yeah, well a long time is too soon.

[A surreptitious glance at the ride, considering it more like some kind of monster then any sort of roller coaster.]

[Oh it's definitely in challenge territory.]

South. [A combination of scolding and still challenging.] Once.

[South tears her eyes from the ride to consider Carolina carefully, then crumples up her popcorn bag and tosses it at the nearest receptacle without averting her glance.]

Fine. Just once.

[And yet she can't help starting an internal chant of bad idea bad idea as she turns resolutely towards the ride.]

[Carolina tries not to smirk, but finds the edges of her mouth quirking just slightly as she follows South up to the ride. It's easy enough to clamber into the car and prepare to pull down the safety bar.]

[South's actually not really focused on Carolina, instead looking increasingly nervous as they get settled and the safety bar gets locked into place.]

Relax. [Carolina attempts to emulate York for a few moments as the ride starts moving, turning their car slowly at first in a circle.]

[i_got_this]

Yeah. Sure. Just as soon as I'm back on solid ground. [She's tensing as the ride starts, her knuckles going white where she grips the bar as they pick up speed.]

[Carolina flicks her gaze over at South's intense grip on the bar. Yeah, okay maybe this was a bad idea.]

Breathing helps, too.

[South takes a sharp breath inward because, yes, she had forgotten to breathe, letting it out in a quick, quiet chanting of oh shit oh shit oh shit. North was the one that usually reminded her about the medication. He'd probable even know what it was called. Souths' not-so quietly cursing herself for letting it slide here.]

[Things are very quickly drifting into 'not okay' territory as Carolina hears that small chant and she silently reminds her that South curses at a lot of things, but the ride is speeding up and spinning pretty quickly.]

[Yeah, everything else was just the pre-show. The spinning and speed hit South where it counts and her entire body tenses. She pulls in on herself as much as she can with the safety bar in the way. Her little cursing chants have turned into a low moan as she tries to hold on. These rides weren't that long, right? She can make it, right?]

Goddamn, this is the worst of bad ideas.
