S1E3 [action | accidental dictated]

[Shatterstar is in the movie theatre, now that he knows it's there. He's been feeling kind of down in between his excitement at all the new things here, so he put on one of his favorites - Gladiator - to try and cheer himself up. It isn't working. Instead, it made him realize what's been missing. Julio. Julio who shows him movies and yells at him when he does something stupid and yet always forgives him. It's been a month now. He's in Julio-withdrawal.

And it means instead of eating popcorn and enjoying Russell Crowe's rather excellent dialogue delivery, he's hunched up on one of the arm chairs glumly, boots shed something on the floor - 'No shoes on the furniture, 'Star' - and his journal tucked next to him. Of course, in the quixotic nature of the journals, it's decided to catch the words he says to nobody in particular, with the background of swords clashing from the film]

I miss you.

[Shatterstar's head whips up with the reflexes of someone who's more used to combat than everyday life. Thankfully he registers that the sudden voice isn't a threat - though it's a sign of how lost he was in his own feelings that he didn't hear anyone come up behind him]

No. Julio. My... boyfriend. [He says 'boyfriend' with a certain amount of hesitance - it's never something he had to say outloud because everyone around him already knew]

[Spike for his part doesn't seem all that bothered. EQUESTRIA LOVES AND TOLERATES THE SHIT OUT OF ALL OF YOU]

Oh. That's sad. A lot of people around here are without the ones they love. It's really hard.

We have been separated by choice before, but... this is different.

Yeah, it's like being whole worlds away. But he might show up one day, you never know.

It is.... not a feeling I'm used to. To be involuntarily separated from someone I care for.

It takes a while to get used to. Helps to make friends here, I've found, even though they'll never be as good as those from home. If nothing else, you can hold out hope that the castle will bring them here, as it'll do from time to time.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Part of my loss is the memories of a fair number of my schoolmates. Feels like a bit of a gap I can't quite fill, you know?

['Star is quiet for a moment, thinking that over]

That... would be worse, I think. To think I had never known him.

Yeah, you've got a point. I try to not think about it if I can. Considering the sort of lives we lead, things like this aren't that strange. Instead, I try to make the best of the friends I've made here.

[Gren has decided to check out the theatre since somebody told him about it last week. When he enters the theatre, he's not entirely surprised to find that it's occupied, but he does try to approach quietly]

Oh. Hey. I didn't interrupt a private viewing, did I?

[He looks briefly - not startled, so much as tense, battle-wary. Which is as good as being startled, for him. He relaxes a second later,though - not a threat]

No, I was simply... lost in thought.

[He leans forward, his forearms on the back of one of the theatre seats, just a few rows back from where Shatterstar is sitting]

Rictor. [...Oh, right, you aren't X-Factor. He adds a moment later] My boyfriend.

[both_neither]

[He looks mildly surprised by the admission, but then smiles softly] Is he an actor or something?

[asseenontv]

[Shatterstar still doesn't get why humans are so hung up on orientation anyway. He shakes his head in response to the question]

No. We usually watched movies together.

[It's a society thing. People are a little freer with it in his time, but you can never be sure...]

Oh yeah? Sounds like a good time. And I'm guess this was a favorite, right?

[ Nyu has been exploring more each day. She has been hoping to find Kouta. She's never been in a movie theatre before and stares at the screen. But she is soon distracted by a man looking absolutely miserable. ]

[He had kind of registered someone else coming in, but was far too wrapped up in feeling sorry for himself to bother paying them any attention. He looks up at the.. noise? Word? He isn't quite sure. Confused alien is confused]

...Hello?

[ There's a pink-haired young woman with horns on her head. She looks concerned at him, leaning over into his personal space. ]

[Shatterstar has no concept of personal space, so this doesn't bother him. He is still Very Confused, however.]

Can you understand me? [And if he doesn't get a response in English, he is going to down the laundry list of probably the ten or fifteen most common Earth languages, as well as Cadre Alliance]
