17-On the Expedition

[heal_theworld]

[Though she's not even sure how many of her friends are still in the castle.] How are you doing? [She pauses.] We got attacked by 8 foot tall lizard birds a day or so ago. But don't worry about me, I'm okay. I didn't even get injured.



[Martel's sitting in one of the boats by the prow, just staring off at shore, maybe watching for a glimpse of those birds. To keep her hands busy, she's playing with a bit of string she found and tying it into more and more knots. In a little while, it's just going to be a mess of knots. If anyone knows her, they might say she was upset, even though she'll deny it.]

[Zelos at some point walks past her, a bit lost in his own thoughts. He leans against the rail, staring at the scenery before he frowns a little and asks]

Hey, you got any idea what day it is?

[heal_theworld]

[She blinks. She actually has to think about this.] It's... [She's checking her journal now.] September 4th, I believe.

[wilder]

[yeah nothing like devil birds to make you lose track of the calendar.]

....Huh. Okay. [So it is today.]

I almost thought it was still August.

[heal_theworld]

I can never tell what month it's supposed to be. The fact that the weather is almost always the same doesn't help.

...Why ask about the date?

[wilder]

Yeah, no kidding. You can barely tell summer apart from spring.

[a shrug] Just curious~

[heal_theworld]

At least you can tell winter apart.

[She looks at him, obviously not believing him.] Right.

[wilder]

[a snort] Unfortunately, yeah.

What? Do you not believe me?

[heal_theworld]

It just seemed strange, is all. That would just ask me what the date is. [She pauses.] Aren't you angry with me anyway?

[wilder]

Huh?

Why would I be angry with you? [legit confused]

You tell me of such dangers in one breath and in the next you ask me not to worry. Do you know so little of me? [She's teasing, mostly. But is she is going to worry no matter what, you know.]

[heal_theworld]

Well, you shouldn't so much. You might get gray hairs. [And that's her attempt ay a joke, as Galadriel is an elf.]

Ah, but someone must. If I do not, who will?

[heal_theworld]

...Good point. But I'm sure we can all manage for a day without you, if you ever wanted to take a day off of worrying.

[inafadingcrown]

[A little laugh] In truth, I am not certain I can. I will always be concerned for those dear to me. Is that so strange?

[heal_theworld]

No, of course not. I worry about people all the time. [Though she doesn't always show it.]

[inafadingcrown]

I do not doubt it. You have a kind heart.

[heal_theworld]

So do you, you know. [She laughs.] Sometimes, we are incredibly similar.

[cloakand_danger]

[Yuan settles in beside her, comfortably within her personal space, and stares out at the shore as well.]

You look like you've got something on your mind.

[heal_theworld]

[She jumps when he speaks, as she didn't actually notice him sit down. She goes back to playing with her string after she looks briefly at him.] Oh, I'm fine. Just a bit...preoccupied.

[cloakand_danger]

I can tell. ...Anything you want to talk about? [Look, Yuan's showing concern for other people's emotional well-being!]

[heal_theworld]

Oh, no, I'm fine. Really. [She gives him what she hopes is an earnest smile.] Thank you for asking, though. [It's progress!]

[cloakand_danger]

If you're sure. [He puts an arm around her shoulders and kisses her temple.] You just seemed a bit melancholy.

[heal_theworld]

But only a bit. [She smiles at him, this time more genuine than before.] I'll be fine, love. Sometimes you worry too much.

[cloakand_danger]

[He smiles back warmly.] I can't help that, you mean too much to me.

[heal_theworld]

[ Martel gives him a mock pout.] I can take care of myself, you know... [Only not really here, and that's the problem.]
