23rd Gate - Medic, Medic, Who's Got the Medic?

[ Vanyel thought he should be worried that he knew exactly where he was when he woke up, why, and that he was not surprised. Some people would freak out, but no, he knew. He had been in here more than once more - both here in Para and in his own world. If anyone had stripped him down during an examination, they would see reasons why. Right now he definitely knew the reason with his pounding headache and the aches that sizzle throughout his body. He should have stayed asleep longer, but after all these years doing what he did, he just couldn't. Not in one straight shot, at least.

But yay, the clinic, again. Yfandes was going to kill him, wasn't she?

For those wanting to visit, Vanyel would be in and out of wakefulness throughout the day in short spurts, usually driven back to sleep by pain, nausea, or both. At least someone had given him things to help with the dreams. He didn't want to go to that cold place. He hated that, more than anything, he thought.

And yes, most of the time he is waiting for someone to come and chew him out, because he is fairly sure he did not get into the clinic by Yfandes' powers alone.]

[Clow is there in the morning - though not particularly early, as he went back to his own room to sleep like a rock after that. Which did away with his headache, thankfully for anyone having to deal with him. He's still Not Happy about this mess, but he's going to wait until he's sure it'll stick to chew Vanyel out. Probably.]

[and there's a mixed expression of exasperation and concern on her face. Other humans may get away without showing the slightest iota of horse common sense, but you've got Yfandes. You should've had it bucked into your skull by now.]

That was quite foalish.

[Clow has been reading, because there's no point in hovering like a mother hen. He looks up from the book at the stirring on the bed with a small, wry smile]

Decided to rejoin the waking world a little more fully?

[Being woken in the middle of the night by someone else's spell is not what Howl would call a good time. Still, he'd been a bit wary of actually investigating the cause for awhile, part of him afraid that what he had felt had been the witch catching up with him, even here.

Nothing else had happened, however, and eventually he'd scraped up his limited courage to go and see just what had happened. The clinic was the second place he'd tried, after the barn proved to hold no answers. It doesn't take long for him to spot Vanyel and put two-and-two together, though it was odd to realize he only knew the other through a set of false memories. Despite all of this, he's all smiles when he finally walks over.]

I take it you're the one who attempted that bit of spectacularly stupid magic?

[Not much of a preamble, just right to the point. But he doesn't actually sound irritated or disapproving. Just curious.]

[dryly:]

Very well then. A perfectly foolish foal.

[sigh. There's one more admonishing look before she finally drops it. If there's one thing she's learned as a princess, it's that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.]

Likewise, I wish that had not occurred either. How art thou feeling?
legacydeck: (hmm)

[personal profile] legacydeck 2012-09-07 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, no. [Not that it's something he's had to deal with in a long time]

It'd have been easier if you hadn't backlashed on yourself in the first place, though.

And it didn't occur to you to ask any of the other mages if we knew other ways of grounding of shielding? Or even tell us what you were going to do?

[His tone is fairly mild, all things considered, but it's clear he's not going to just drop this.]

[personal profile] strangewonders 2012-09-07 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
No, I imagine if you had thought it was stupid, you wouldn't have attempted it.

[Or so he hoped, anyway. He glanced about until he saw a chair and dragged it close enough to sit.]

I'm interested in just what you were trying to do. It woke me from a dead sleep.

Except Yfandes told me this is the same thing you tried in the winter. [And yes, your magic not-horse talking to him is a whole other topic, though he'll let you breach it] Which Felix told me nearly killed you.

[If he lectured about doing reckless things, he would have been the world's biggest hypocrite. Besides, he's sure there are others to do that for him. Instead, he just looks intrigued.]

And the gate didn't 'take' I assume?

[That would explain the backlash.]

Any clue as to why?

[Because it had occurred to him to try and open a path back to either Ingary or Wales, but if this was what happened when an in-world gateway was tried... well. He might rethink those plans.]

Still, some forewarning would have been nice. I suspect I'd have still felt that even if you'd succeeded.
