[The pages can be heard flipping open quickly and an exhale comes across first. Her hair gets swept out of her face as she sets the journal open on the surface of the bar. The clink of glasses in the background is muted, but still present.]

Before I get started, I wanted to let everyone know that Bonnie Bennett has returned home. So did Elena Gilbert. I didn't really know Elena and maybe Bonnie mentioned it earlier, but when I was looking for Bonnie I went to ask Elena and - nope. Not there.

Of course, this means that I'm still hiring at the Lux.

[A beat]

Let's be honest, I'm always hiring at the Lux. With the recent dip into everyone getting wishing whiplash, I'm telling everyone that I do my best to run a wish-free bar here. I don't like to use the ghosts to fill up staffing positions that can be done just as easily with a real person. You'll earn a wage, plus tips, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that in a year or whenever the castle next opts to take out that wishing tax on everyone -- you won't end up in bed sick for a few days.

[She draws in a sharp breath through her nose.] Just -- something to think about.

Also, how many doubles of people are left in this place? Are there any left?

[pauses for a moment as he runs a hand over his face]

I don't ... I don't know. I don't know how I'm supposed to be around him. We're from the same time, but for him it just happened. I've been here for two years.

So, take things slowly. [She moves to take a hold of a nearby chair and drag it toward him. She'll sit down on it and watch him for a moment.]

No one said you had to do it all in a day, Sam.

No. But ... it didn't used to be like this. I didn't see him for two years when I was at school, but when he came back it was like nothing had changed.

[taps his pencil against the table]

Here it feels like everything's changed.

Is that because you've changed?

Maybe. Probably. I'm just not sure it's for better or for worse.

Can I give my opinion? [a beat]

Wait, I'm gonna give it anyway. It's for the better, Sam. You've had time to actually deal with things. It's not another hunt to distract you or keep you busy. You've gone through things and had support around you.

Hell, you dated me and that had to have been the best life choice.

[He glances up with a smirk.]

That was a pretty awesome decision, if I do say so myself.

[She shakes her head, wondering if they're gonna actually tell Dean that part... since every time it's come up in the past it hasn't gone well. At least, not for her.]

Regardless, Sam, you can't keep looking at this place as something that is going to drive the two of you further apart. It's a chance for you both to have something you probably won't get a shot at back home.

Stop sitting on your ass and take the challenge.

[It hasn't gone well for him either. Dean can never seem to wrap his head around the fact that it happened.

He listens to what she says, takes a deep breath and nods.]

Okay. Okay.

[She smiles.]

That was easier than I thought it'd be.

I'd like to think you've learned how to get through to me by now.

Well, if that hadn't worked I was going to go with the blunt force trauma. [Look at her with the medical terms... Nope, not because of Chase.]

[eyebrow raise because yeah, he knows where she's getting that from.

... but nope, not going to comment.]

Hey. I can listen.

Good. [She moves to take a seat.]

Need any help?

[looks over his paperwork before shaking his head]

Nope. Looks like I'm just about done.

[looks up at her again]

Unless you want to help me walk the dogs?

Sure, I can help with the dogs.

Okay. Let me just lock up.

[she nods and moves to head outside, to wait for him.]

[makes sure everything is where it's supposed to go and all the lights are out, before joining her outside.]

How's everything going at the Lux?

[She stoops down to scratch at Alice, glancing up at Sam.]

We're still short-staffed, but it'll even out eventually.

[nods]

Did you pick anybody up at that job fair?

Not really. A lot of lookers, but no one wanted anything.

Huh. Maybe we'll get an influx of bartenders.

That'd be interesting.

I'm sure Caritas probably needs people too. We can spread it around.
