Still...it's weird to me that you're royalty and you go by lady.

The vast majority of Elven rulers are addressed as "Lord" and "Lady."

In my world when you're speaking formal titles, Lord and Lady are on a lower tier for nobility. Higher than that are Dukes and Duchesses, then Chosen and their family, then the royal family with the King or Queen at the top. There's more titles sprinkled throughout that, but those are the biggies.

If you're being informal you can refer to a Duke, Duchess or a Chosen as a Lord or Lady, but not a member of the royal family and certainly not the King or Queen. The ruling King or Queen aren't even allowed to be referred to by their names. Only by His or Her Majesty.

Sure I guess, but there's only one true King and that is the King of Tethe'alla.

Though if Sylvarant grows strong enough to get their own monarchy one day, then tradition will probably have to change a little.

Are there so few monarchies in your world? Surely there cannot be but two nations.

One standing nation, actually. Sylvarant may be one one day, but it's far too much in shambles from eight hundred years of decline to have any overruling monarchy.

Anyway, there's so few nations and monarchies because there's so few Chosen. One for Tethe'alla, one for Sylvarant. There's still power struggles over noble lines controlling certain regions of Tethe'alla, but no one wants to be a sovereign nation completely without a Chosen.
