I know this perhaps a bit forward of me, but I realized I've been here two months now and haven't met many of you yet, or what your powers do, and I suspect I'm probably not the only one. I also have something I'd like to propose to other members of the council. With that in mind, I'd like to call a meeting at, oh... say five o'clock?

Howl, I expect to see you there.


[And Clow will be in the Chimera main room, already ensconced in a chair. There is a nice big teapot out, and a plate of biscuits, because he feels like being properly English about this right now

I suppose we are rather a pair - to get one, you need the both.

Oh? Are you linked in some way, or is it simply a matter of friendship?

No, we are linked. All Heralds are, to their Companions. We are Chosen by them, and they are ours for life, till death do us part.

Ah, I think I understand.

[There's nothing quite equivalent back home, but it doesn't sound too terribly removed from his own contract, if perhaps lacking in the negative consequences.]

Oh? You would be one of the first. Most people outside of the Heralds do not understand what it is we share, much less acknowledge readily our Companions are more than the animals they look like.

Wizards don't typically have companions where I hail from, but a few of us have... well, I'm not sure of how to describe it, perhaps 'familiars' would be the best term, bound through a mutually beneficial contract.

[Which was about as much detail as he would give on the matter, or could give, in regards to the contract.]

Ah, well, Yfandes and I... it is not a contract. It is... like a part of me was missing, and she came in to fill that space.

[And he'll smile enough to try and make it convincing.]
