Eight Spoons {Dictation}
[Wow, Jane hasn't used this thing since before she left for the expedition! Although, that time was an accident and not very fun...Well, whatever. She's using it now, right?]
Good afternoon! How is everyone today? I must confess, I didn't pay too much attention to my journal while were were traveling. After staying in one place for so long, everything new becomes so interesting. [Kind of like how eager she was just to get outside once her Dad started grounding her for her own safety.]
So, I've been thinking ever since we started our return trip, and I thought now would be an ideal time to pose some questions, the first concerning inventory. I carry numerous things with me at any one time, and while away I have to use a backpack to hold all of it, but the trouble with a backpack is that you can forget it somewhere if you're not used to it. Do you think there might be an easier way for me to carry highly important things while reducing my chances for abandoning them? Even if I end up looking ridiculous, having things at the ready would be better than not having them at all!
The second question is a bit...[She clears her throat.] Well. It's just. I'm sure those of you not with us have heard of those bird monsters that attacked...
[Nuh-uh, not getting into how useless she felt, unless you push her buttons. There may or may not be a little neurotic worrying about how she'd handle fights back home if she ever returned, too.]
...I would just like to be able to hold my own in a fight, is all. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I should go about that?
[She pauses, stewing in her own thoughts, before she claps once.]
Well! I think that should cover everything! Have a good day, everyone!

You mean like a tool belt?

A tool belt? Like the ones that superheroes in comics sport? I suppose that could work...

dictated!
[Regardless:]
What kind of items did you have in mind?
Dictation forever
I think so too, but sometimes you can't help but misplace things.
My spoon was the main thing I had in mind. It's long enough to be used as a blunt weapon, but I'm not going to just hold it all the time. That would look awfully silly!

;dictated
Jeez, I guess I'm even more glad now that I didn't go on that trip. That sounds really freaky.
Dictation forever?

dictated;
[LADIES AND COMBAT... er, quite problematic on his end.]
I would offer myself but, seeing as I am a gentleman it would never do to engage a young lady in any sort of combat.
Dictation forever?
[A pause. The gentleman comment has her thinking about a friend from home.] Really? And why is that?
