[Obviously this is another test. Last time, York had said the objective here was to 'explore and survive', so she's certain there's got to be a twist, second time around.]

[That check-in out of the way, she's going to roam the halls, taking note of the new and old name plates and reacquainting herself with the layout. To her, it's been a couple years since she's been here.]

[No, she wouldn't appreciate a gimmee, and while she's excited to be able to work with whatever tools he supplies her, something else catches her attention even moreso.]

No! Are you saying there's one here now?

There is. Once you've found a place to bunk, you can work on locating it. It's not on the castle grounds, but within [insert vague distance between castle and hangar]. You'll find supplies and training materials there.

[And once she's settled with staying with Jorge for a night or two, she's going to incognito her way right over to the hangar, and once she's in she's filtering right back to York again]

[He has to laugh a little at how excited she sounds. So Kat liked Falcons even as a kid, huh? Suddenly he's not so surprised she built one.]

We've upgraded a bit since last time you were here. Now on the first floor there's a workshop with some practice routines for holographic locks. Did you find the food supplies?

Yes, I did. There aren't any MREs in here ...

[She doesn't sound too broken up about that, and hopefully she won't find the stash Adult!Kat keeps hidden from York.]

[Muttering to herself,] I think I want soup. I'm going to make soup. And a grilled cheese sandwich ... oh! with bacon! [Yes, the appetite started out young as well.]

Familiar with proper use of a stove, I hope? if not, just let me know and I'll head out there to cook for you.

I'll figure it out. [That's Catherine-speak for 'No'. There's a clatter of pots and pans as she's trying to pull out everything she thinks she might need for the endeavor.]

[...Sounds like a "no" to him. But if she's not asking for help, he won't baby her.]

Should be instructions on the soup can. For the grilled cheese, melt a little butter in the pan and then toast the bread and melt the cheese on it. Don't turn it above a 7, you don't need to start any fires.

Got it. [Yeah it's going to get a little messy in here.]

[She goes quiet as she concentrates, forgetting that she's got the journal open. Things seem to be going as well as one can hope, until she reaches for some salt and accentally bumps her arm against the hot pan.] Ouch!

Yeah ... where's the first aid?

[As far as injuries go it's not that bad, mostly it's her pride that's hurt.]

North wall, in the cabinet. You okay?

I'm fine. I just burned my arm.

[And, well, there's about to be a bit more burning because she forgot to move the pan before going to get the first aid. Fire alarms, anyone?]

[Sheeeeet well at least adult!Kat had installed sprinklers. SHe'd tear him a new one if the hangar burned down, even if she was the one who did it.]

Turn the handles away from the edge of the stove and use a hotpad. Oh, and take the pan off the burner while you're treating the burn.

[She does just this, with the shifting and clatting of someone who's not exactly the proper counter height, but she seems to manage okay.]

[Don't make him come out there. He wants to trust you, even as a kid.]

Yes, I got it. [She sounds a little frustrated, but nothing's burning down tonight. Might be a little charred, though, but she's not picky.]

Good. Make sure everything's off before you eat, and then just let me know if you have any questions, okay?

Affirmative.

[She gets herself all set to eat, turning everything off and pulling up to the table, setting the journal next to the table. For the first few bites she doesn't say anything, like she's going to continue quietly, but a question does occur to her.]

So ... where do the others go?

From your team, you mean? They probably don't remember. Did you remember this place last time, once you got back to base?

[That's an easy one. She didn't.]

[inmylight_commander]

No, I didn't. [She pauses for a moment, thinking.] I guess no one else did, either, since no one mentioned anything?

[nearly four years training with them, she missed them.]

Exactly. And just like last time, you'll be back with them before too long.

But sometimes a situation means you have to work on your own until you can get reunited with your team, so it's still good practice.
