Hey, guys! It's been a while, I know ... but there was the expedition, and the dinosaurs, and then getting back and settling in ... helping Pete out ... He's okay, now, by the way, in case you guys were worried. But ... I figured I should say hi, since we've got a lot of new people, and I haven't really introduced myself in a while.

My name's Dr. Ray Stantz, I'm a paranormal investigator and an engineer back home, which is New York at the tail end of the 20th century, for anyone who's curious. Back home I specialized in researching ghosts, spooks, spectres, and other supernatural phenomena, but lately I've been working on gathering data about all the stuff that goes on here. So, if anything out of what passes for "ordinary" around here happens, I'd love to hear from you so that I can try to help!

[there's a pause, as he reads over what the journal transcribed. yep, that looks good. he smiles to himself, then glances over the notes he's got spread out on the table around him]

Right now, though, I kinda need a break. And this last trip made me realize, I should probably come up with some way to defend myself a little better. I had a quick stint as a knight in Camelot, back home - long story - so I know a little bit about swords. Would anyone be willing to help me get better at it? Maybe help me get one of my own...?

Okay, great! What time do you want to meet up? I'm pretty much free whenever, I just have to take Blue for a walk ...

As soon as you're settled. Might as well take advantage of the calm why we can, right?

Okay. I'll meet you up there in about an hour, then. [that'll give him time to walk Blue and then - well, clean up from any muddy paws or wet-dog splashes or any of that nonsense that usually prevails]

[he'll be hanging out until then, playing pool. It's been a while so he figured he'd get in some practice]

[all his time in Paradisa has not made Ray as friendly toward stairs as one might expect, even for someone living in a tower. he'll gladly take the elevator up from the lobby and stride right on in, grinning]

Yeah, I don't think I've played pool since college. [the position of the balls suggests he is not that great] Hm, I need more practice.

[he's probably not any worse than Ray. he moves to the rack to select a cue and chalk it up] College, huh? Where'd you go?

[he's an Earth guy, it might be a name he'd know. also, mun can't remember if the "fellow New Yorker" thing has come up yet]

And after I graduated, I was a hospice nurse for a few months before changing to a paramedic.

Oh! That's - that's in New York, yeah? I recognize the name - lived there most of my life. ... That's great, though. You sound like you've always been dedicated to helping people.

[he leans on the cue a little as he studies the table, trying to decide if he wants to join in the practice]

Yeah, pretty much. Ever since high school. How about you? When did you get into the ghost hunting business?

College, actually. [he grins, picking up the rack and giving a shrug of his shoulders that silently asks if Peter minds if he reset the table] I was gonna originally major in engineering, like my dad. The supernatural interest was just a hobby ... Until I joined the campus club and met my friend Egon. Then the two of us realized how much you could pair science with the occult, how interrelated they really are, and, well, the idea just took off.

[Peter gestures for him to go ahead]

I don't know too much about it myself. Except what I've learned since being in Paradisa. There were enough strange things going on with the living back home.

[he starts fishing the balls out of the pockets, first, dumping them out on the table with the rack hanging off one arm like an oversized new wave bracelet]

Oh, it's really fascinating. I've been studying it for over 20 years now, and I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface. I'd be glad to tell you anythin' you wanna hear about. ... But what do you mean, there were strange things going on with the living?

[in answer Peter lifts his hand and one of the balls starts rolling back and forth seemingly on its own]

I mean, when something like this becomes commonplace even before you show up in a magical casatle.
