[There's a scuffling noise, as if someone's trying to keep hold of the journal while fiddling around with something else.]

My goodness. Someone needs to be told it's rather rude to nail their invitations to a person's door. I nearly thought the king had managed to track me all the way here.

[There's a pause an a bit of a laugh]

I'll have to work on my royalty-evasion, it seems. I don't suppose anyone knows something about our gracious host? Or whether this will end up being an elaborate trap?

[Howl's not usually the paranoid type, but you can never be too careful when it comes to kings.]

That I have. I suppose I ought to thank the castle for that, as odd as it may seem.

Not that odd. Not everyone is in a hurry to return home.

I'd be a little happier if I could check on a thing or two, but I'll have to be satisfied with no one trying to kill me or harangue me into jobs I don't want.

Sadly, I don't think the castle could be enticed to deliver inter-dimensional mail.

You never know. Every once in awhile it does something that might be construed as 'nice'.

And the rest of the time it goes around tricking us all. I think I'll avoid asking it any favors.

Oh, I agree with you there. One of many reasons to not ask it for too much.
