[ It's been awhile since GLaDOS had communicated with other residents, so she decides to write. Besides, it's easier to read than try and hear other people's voices over the ones rambling on in her head.

She was a true mess- her usually clean-cut white hair was askew, with dark rings and bags under her dull golden eyes, and her clothes were wrinkled from her numerous attempts to curl up and sleep. Not like that worked very often.

And so she wrote, as neatly as she could manage from her current position laying down in her bed: ]

What methods do you humans use for ~~voic~~ soothing headaches and calming themselves down?

~~This is getting tiresome~~.

[ She crossed that out, finding it too much of a plea for help instead of a simple question. ]

It depends. Dimmed lights and soft music are usually the cures. It depends on the cause of the headaches.

... How does the cause of the headache effect the cure?

For instance, if it's a spasming muscle, you would massage the muscle until it was calm. If it was caused by a tumor or growth putting pressure on your head, then you're most likely out of luck and should savor the time you have left.

There's this wonderful invention known as Tylenol. You ought to give it a try.

Hm. [ She hesitates. ] I suppose voices aren't common reasons for human headaches, then.

Painkillers would likely help with the pain, but not the rest.

No, but they are a common cause for human mental instability.

Well, aren't you the happy bearer of bad news.

[ She sounded as sarcastic as she could in her tired sigh of a voice. ]

Of course. I find a lighter tune makes it easier.

As for the voices, have they been causing other problems besides the headache?

Easier for what? I'm not going insane.

[ she huffed, before quieting, thoughtful. ]

I haven't been able to sleep. It's difficult to hear people and concentrate.

How long has this been going on?

[He's got nothing else to do and this sounds interesting.]

... [ Don't mind her as she tries to think about it. ] About a month... I think...?

[ she murmured, a bit worried now that she thought about how long it was going on. A month.

A whole month of this torture. ]

Since the end of April.

There are numerous painkillers. It would be easier to diagnose if I had a cause, though.

I don't know what the cause is. I suddenly woke up with a headache and it hasn't left.

So it's not something that began when you first arrived.

No, not at all. It just started a month ago, suddenly, when I woke up.

It could be a stress headache... Have you been staring at any bright lights for extended periods of time? Computer screens, anything like that?

No, I haven't. What other kinds of headaches are there?

[ The question mark sort of wiggles a bit at the end, as though trying to concentrate especially hard on writing it right. ]

There's aches caused by trauma, injury, lack of food...

Yes, loud, persistent noises can cause headaches.

Can you hear a ringing in your ears?

A little bit. The noise is usually louder than it, though.

How long have you been exposed to the loud noise?

About a month.

Without proper protection equipment?

[Can you hear the teeny hint of annoyance in his voice? Professional annoyance, that is.]

[ She rolls her eyes before writing again. ]

How do you protect the inside of your head? Because that sounds rather impos s ib le to do

[ Her writing deteriorates slightly as a particular wave of pain hits her. ]

I may need to run a brain scan to find the source. The headaches will probably keep coming otherwise.

Hmm. That's quite a problem. What have you tried for solving it, yet?

[ She lets out a thoughful sound. ]

I've tried to drown it out... It works, but it makes my head hurt more. I've tried tea... a lot of tea, but that doesn't work either. And even if the headache goes away a bit if I try to take medicine, the voices are still there.

I could always play music and see if that helps.

I have a scanning device that will detect if there are any anomalies to normal human brains. If there are any, and it's not castle-induced, I can use the scans to try and perscribe a treatment.

[ She's considering this, if only because she's getting sick and tired. ]

It would depend. There's a lot of illnesses I've probably not come across, and it depends if it's castle-inflicted or not.
