So, now that Mr. Lovely Vampire is back in town, is there any kind of plan or anything if he gets out of hand?
I tried reasoning with him. [ A pause. ] Well, not so much reasoning as in threaten to kill him if he tries anything. You... can expect how well he took that.

[ Ever since Damon turned back up, Buffy's had a lot of questions. A random amount, but mostly revolving around Faith. ]

Plus, this has her kinda ticked, because she figures she's not the only one playing secret messages with the journal.]

[ She was waiting to hear something like that. Buffy was kind of expecting something like this to happen, but for some reason it still stung. ]
I mean, really, after everything he's done--to ANGEL of all people. The only person who never gave up on you. All that doesn't matter to you? Wes roughs him up a little and the score is settled? I-It's just go home, come back, fresh start?

You're deciding what I'm okay with now?
Guess you don't need me to answer any of those questions for you, since you already got me all figured out.

[ A moment of silence. She's not even sure why she's about to say the next thing that crosses her mind. ]
Where do we stand? [ She forces out a laugh as she starts her next sentence. ] Is every thing just going to boil down to you hate me, end of argument?

You were shooting way into the dark, Buffy. You don't even stop to think about it, do you?
He shows up and everyone just prepares for battle, expecting the worse. [They did the same thing when she showed up (of course she did come out firing), then they spent months explaining how she could be better, how she had a choice. Turns out, there's no choice for her to make anymore.
They already know what happens, they have some extended preview of her life and they're just wishing she could catch up sooner.]
And -- maybe I have a hard time answering, because you didn't even tell me why you're making such a big deal out of this. So, the last time Damon was here he screwed up. Stefan did too, hell -- half the people in this place aren't exactly prizes you want to take home.
The castle brought him here. Picked from when, took something away from him -- just like it did to you -- just like it did to me.
You're gonna tell me there's no shitty part of your life that you're just real glad wasn't your kick-off point to this place? No dark corner filled with regret and secrets you didn't even tell your mom?
How do you know that whatever the castle took from Damon the last time -- how do you know that isn't what made him do what he did?
Do you? Do you even think about that?
[She tsks, pausing in the middle of her... very Buffy-like preaching. Yep, spending too much time with her.]
Nope, 'cause all you want to know is how to put it down.
[She chuckles a bit.] Kinda funny, because I seem to remember when I had that attitude about another vampire -- when it was a vampire you trusted -- you were the one making the big case to save him. Yet, here you are, trying to see if I'm willing to do my job.
Faith
If I for one second believed that Damon wouldn't turn around and kill o-or glamor someone, this conversation wouldn't even be happening. I'm not saying you, or me, or anyone else in this castle hasn't done anything as terrible but most of the time? Not their fault. And even if it was, I'm sure there was someone out there who was in the same position as I'm in right now: Cautious. Ready. Prepared.
He manipulated people. He fed off people. He put the blame on Angel. This isn't somebody who messed up once and now he's being held against his actions. This is someone who I just talked to and who admitted killing was fun.
I'm not saying let's lock him up, or keep watch on him, because you're right. This may very well be someone different. To give him a chance--to give him time to prove himself... It's what Stefan would have wanted. [ She pauses for a moment, because saying the words out loud put a bit more perspective in her head. ] All I'm saying that is if the time comes I need to know whether I need to worry about me against Damon or me against Damon and you.

[ She doesn't want to talk about this anymore. This was her feeble attempt at trying to corner Faith--trying to find which side she was on. Not just in regards to Damon, but overall.
For a moment, lips part to say something else... before realizing it probably wasn't worth it. She'll just let out a breath and gently shut the journal. ]

But, I take it, that your dealings with him yourself have been less than promising?

It's not like he did one thing bad and I'm holding it against him. There's a lot stacked up against him from the last time he was here. Call me crazy, but I don't think that's enough to not have any suspicions. I mean, with Stefan here at least he could kind of keep an eye on him... but now that it's just Damon? It's smart to be prepared for the worst.

Stefan wasn't that much of a better influence, if you ask me. He deceived and compelled me back when there was fallout over what Damon had done. Luckily Willow was able to break the compulsion, but she's gone now. We won't have have her power as a witch to fall back on this time if Damon decides to start taking advantage of that talent. Which is why the Vervain is so important.
