Teleportation is problematic. Without a guiding mind, the possibility of a gruesome death upon arrival is, for most intents and purposes, certain. Therefore I must be fortune's favorite, unless--

"Magical castle" aside, this place isn't all that different from Earth. The people are interesting, unique, sometimes entertaining, and often very capable. However, they perform so sluggishly in a group that very little is really accomplished. It doesn't help that people have a habit of disappearing before important things can be established or events can unfold.
If the people don't concern you, the environment follows the same concept. Just about everything you could want, if you know where to look or how to ask for it. Certain things are given up for the sake of gaining other things. It's a very give-and-take concept, fairly universal and no less true with the inclusion of otherworldly and magical concepts.
Really, the biggest curve ball I could throw is that people will occasionally be sacrificed by an Egyptian goddess, brainwashed by aliens, or kidnapped and sent to a mysterious nightmare realm... but for all I know, that's on-par for your version of Earth anyway.
