Second Council

[It's been a week since he found the journal, and while not much has occurred in that time for him, it's been a long week. Mostly of thinking, mostly on the things a certain elven lady wished to share with him. And yet he's not sure what to do, it's an unusual position he's in, but he figures to start, he should talk. So journal in hand he settles into a chair in his store, debating how to go about this.]

Time has passed and yet I sit here wondering if all I was told is true. Is it often those whose memories were taken from them are returned here, and if so, is it so often those who claim them friends use memories that may best left be forgotten to return the others? [SUBTLE CALL OUT TO GALADRIEL IS A GO.

And then he writes in a filter.]

You have both spoken of times beyond the castle. And while I know my memory is lacking, I wish to know more. Perhaps if either of you would agree to a time where we could meet, and discuss things, it may help? I would say to do so over the journals however...[It just feels odd to talk about such things not around them.]

Often? I'd say once every few months, with perhaps half a dozen returned at a time.

That seems more often than one would think, does it not?

How so? Do you have a frame of reference as to why it wouldn't be? After all, new residents appear at the rate of five to seven a week.

No, merely that it seems odd is all from what little it is I know. My own recollections of what castle life is like is sparse at best.

As I understand it, this has only started within the past year or so. Before that it hadn't ever happened at all.

No, only my life before arriving here. Some, but not all of that even if those that have talked with me before are to be believed. [Galadriel left him in the lurch there :/] I only know I was here before courtesy of those kind enough to share that with me.

That is...[Nagging feeling and a shake of his head that she can't see. That sounds familiar.]

Does it conflict with the life you thought you'd led here? If so, I'd say it's certainly worth investigating. Our memories define us, do they not? If there is an inconsistency, it's better to seek the truth.

In Paris, I believe is when it started.

And it was not long ago I started to recall my own. Were you residing in the village not long ago, thinking you had resided there your entire life?

Yes, that was exactly how it seemed to me.

As it has for me, still has for some time as I am still lacking certain memories. May I ask as to how you're memories were returned?

I have no preference as to where, nor if you would like to bring your lord husband with you. Wherever would be of most convenience for you both, I will arrive. [So pick already.]

[And sometime later, the couple will arrive at Elrond's place, hand in hand. Outside the door, Galadriel will pause and turn to Celeborn, looking for a nod of affirmation before knocking; they both need to be ready for this, after all.]

It happens sometimes. [She pauses.] I was one of the first ones to be returned. I though I had lived forever in a city named Paris, but... I had only been there three years. The Castle put me there.

[...This is where he admits he was in Paris and never saw her, right?] As it seems to have done with myself. [A pause as he grapples with this new information.] I was there, in the winter months my last time in the Castle, yet I do not recall you.

It's entirely possible you never saw me. I couldn't remember, and when I did and came back, I stuck mostly to myself. It was very disconcerting.

That I can only imagine. [Except not, it's a lie. He's feeling it some himself.] You found others here then, to aide you in readjusting to life at the castle?

Yes. My fiance, some people from my world, and of course I have made friends since coming here. You're not alone, no matter what.

I have never been alone, not truly, I have always had someone with me. [Memory jiggering is a go yup.] Though thank you, for that.
