[Thanks to Larry not knowing how to operate a stepladder correctly, Phoenix is currently laid up in bed, blue cast on his right leg, and an endless stream of whining ever at the ready.

He's also incredibly bored. Painting and drawing got old long ago, and he can't seem to stay focused on anything he tries to read. Never mind that he could probably pretty easily get out of bed and actually do something despite his (not very severely) broken leg...

He whines, over-dramatic, into the journal.]

Don't trust Larry Butz, everybody... he'll just break your bones and make you miserable...

...on a related note, come and sign my cast.

[With a bit of apprehension, he adds a filter.]



Um... Trucy? ...mind keeping your uh... old man... company for a little while?

[Good lord but he feels ridiculous even asking this of a teenager he's only just recently met.]

[ FINE. Sorry, Daddy, but she is going to attempt to climb up onto you and start brandishing the pen towards your face. If Phoenix doesn't act fast, he'll be gaining 1 marker pen moustache and 1 pair of comedy glasses! ]

[He just sits there at first, smirking, hoping to call her bluff--but when he's earned his marker mustache, he throws a pillow over his face, giving a muffled shout--]

Hold it!!

[And he peers around the pillow, checking to see if the coast is clear.]

[ Thankfully for Phoenix, she's just laughing too hard to do anything more. ]

[ To be honest, she's confused. She thought, well assumed, she knew Phoenix inside out so this is a strange revelation. ] Huh...

I don't think he'd appreciate it as much as you would!

No, probably not, but he's so easy to mess with.

[He laughs, quiet and nervous, and peers hopefully at her.]

[And there's a probably very obvious, unspoken "is this okay?" behind that.]

[ She sighs softly. Of course, it's okay but she can't miss an opportunity to mess with him. ]

I don't know, Daddy! A girl gets her hopes up for a brand new Mommy, we all need someone to go to for delicate female matters, you know?

[He blanches at that (having not considered such an aspect of having a daughter yet), but cracks a grin anyhow.]

...you could always ask Miles about your "delicate female matters," too.

Miles would probably run a mile... [ That gives her a little giggle. ]

Either that, or you'd get a very serious and scientific lecture about human reproduction.

He'd probably prepare flip charts and everything... Seems like the kind of guy who likes to do these things "properly"...

Probably. I think he thinks I'm completely in the dark about those kinds of things anyway. And most everything else outside of law.
