[ It sounds like the journal dropped open as someone moved a bed, followed by someone settling next to it, and the crooning of a pokemon.

After a moment, Duke speaks up. ]

.... Fairly sure late... [ He's got that hoarse voice of someone who not only was asleep for a while, but had recently gotten rid of anything that had been in their stomach for the last week. ]

However... have any else spent time that marked a year here.... in the clinic? [ Totally not mentioning the nightmares. He's going to pretend those nightmares never existed. ]

.... cannot have been only one...

[ Action for Clinic ]

[ And Duke is going to stay wedged in a corner made from one of the beds and the wall, if anyone wants to bother him in the clinic. He's not planning on leaving for a little while.

This is how he plans on dealing with his nightmare. ]

[ If he doesn't cooperate, there will be all sorts of worse tasting medicine and delays on him being able to go back to his own room. At least, that's what he expects. And fighting would probably be rather uncomfortable anyway. ]

Got knocked over, grip on blade was not as good as it could have been. [ Grumpily, but still accurate. And yes, that could be 'I accidentally stabbed myself'. ]

And what were you doing waving a sword around?

[He'll return and start examining the area (and removing any bandages he has that might be in the way???)]

I was not waving a sword around. [ Duke knows perfectly well how to use a sword properly, and waving is not how to do that. ]

Was holding it, and concentration was on ... an experiment. [ If there is bandaging on his side, its likely simply tapped in place as an extra cover for the stitching, and only gets a faint twitch for getting tugged off. And he probably should be a little more careful about how he sits, because with the angle of the stitching, his ribs wouldn't have been untouched either. ]

[He hums, silent a moment as fingers lightly trace the edges of the wound, checking for irregularities, torn stitches, or signs of infection]

Did you confuse 'stunt' with experiment? Because I'm not sure what kind of experiment involves a sword...

Sword is magic. Used for its abilities, as they are different than what can do on own.

[ That feels weird and so Duke shivers a little. He's been fairly stationary aside from his need to get sick earlier, so the signs of irritation could be easily explained. ]

Magic, hm? I don't suppose you were testing a way to go home?

My abilities do not lay in transportation. Know of one who can do so, and attempts to move from here to into the deadzone resulted in backlash that was felt by every magically inclined person have talked to. Had apparently attempted here to his own world with a very similar effect.

Hmm. What sort of magic do you do, then?

[He moves away again to gather up some fresh bandages]

Primarily combat oriented; moderate healing ability, far more skilled at destructive. Secondary; spell creation or alteration; take already known spells, align them in different ways, or create new ones.

Is that what you were experimenting with, then?

[He'll quietly reapply the new bandages as he speaks]

Well, you didn't do too much damage, though it's a little redder than I would like. Likely from strain, but I'll recommend an extra dose of antibiotics. How are you feeling otherwise?

Tired, likely from the nightmares, drained, also likely from nightmares, throat uncomfortable, likely from physical reaction to nightmares. [ and probably 'grumpy, also from nightmares' but he's going to leave that out. ]

Physical reaction? Hm. I'll hazard dehydration, then. You should drink fluids. Or you can have an IV. Your choice.

[ Drink things and possibly either soothe or irritate his throat, or stick a needle in his arm and not have to drink anything.

... He's feeling lazy. ]

.. Would not mind IV. [ He's not planning on going anywhere anyway. ]

[What he'd give to just hand this off to a nurse. He sighs, but it's slight.]

I'll go and arrange that, then. Do me a favor and remain horizontal.

He will fix the side of that gown thing, but he'll stay put on his side. ]
