[Spike is back to cleaning up the library as he dictates into the journal, somewhat cheerfully. The horrors of the nightmares are done, and being back in Ponyville, even if it was only for a short time, has given the baby dragon a new lease of life]

So, that was a pretty weird couple of days, right? I never thought Paradisa would send us to Equestria of all places. I thought it preferred...you know horrible screaming places. Not that I'm complaining, it was really nice to go home again, even if everypony who should have been there was missing.

Guess Paradisa wasn't gonna make it that easy.

[Pause]

So did anypony actually learn anything from the experience? Or are you guys still gonna just complain and miss the whole magic of friendship lesson? ...I'm guessing not. You're lucky Zecora was around to send us back. Hope you thanked her.

[He's a little annoyed HE got sent back, too. But hey, there's plenty of time for going home, and right now, he has people here who need him]

The elements of harmony? What are they?

[Will was fascinated by this. It sounded completely unlike anything he knew of magic.]

[He clumsily draws something that looks like this in the journal]

They're six magical elements. The first five are Laughter, Honesty, Generosity, Kindness and Loyalty, they join together, through the bonds of friendship to form the sixth element; Magic. They give wielders of the Elements the ability to protect Equestria from threats. With uh...this magic rainbow thing.

It's not a magic rainbow thing, Spike. It's a resonating magical effect created between each pony with their feelings and using the Elements as a catalyst, amplifier, and guide.

[ At least, that's what Twilight's research points to.

Goodness, that all sounds strange to me.

[huffythedragon]

It's pretty strange to me, too. I mean, at first anyway. I guess I'm lucky that I don't have to do anything with them. I'm not part of their mystical friendship bond...thing.

...Well, except for the fact it made me hatch but that's just a minor detail.

Really? How did that work?

[huffythedragon]

...How'd my hatching work?

[lightbranded]

I've never heard of magic affecting a hatching before. [Will laughs at himself.] Nor magic born from emotions nor friendship as a power in itself really. And I have no spoken to anyone you could say to have hatched for many months. Not since the Eagle of Gwernabwy whispered the words of wind and flight to me.

Oh well, Twilight used her magic to hatch my egg. I'm not sure if dragons need that when they're with other dragons or not.

The...Eagle of what-ywhatnow?

Someone I once met in my world. [Will slides into a singsong sort of tone, almost as if he was reciting a poem.]

The Three Elders of the World. The Owl of Cwm Cawlwyd, the Eagle of Gwernabwy, and the Blackbird of Celli Gadarn. Yet only the Eagle may see the Dark.

...You lost me after the owl.

It is merely something that is said in my world. It describes what he is.

[huffythedragon]

Beeeecause only eagles can see in the dark? Because I'm absolutely positive owls can too.

[lightbranded]

Not in the dark. To see the Dark.

[huffythedragon]

...I don't get it.

[lightbranded]

There is darkness, and then there is the Dark. [Will hesitates, as he tries to think how to explain this simply.]

The Dark... It is not a physical darkness. It is a part of the universe. A great dark pit as deep as the universe it is. Hate, prejudice, war... all the things that have troubled the world since the beginning. They are all of the Dark.

...Oh. I get it.

We have Windygoes.

[lightbranded]

What are those?

[huffythedragon]

Thy're winter spirits that feed off fighting and hatred. Wherever there's that sort of thing, they appear and bring freezing blizzards with them.

[lightbranded]

[Will grows silent, remembering a Christmas with the Dark and the terrible snow that just kept falling.]

It is much like that, yes.

Then I get it. Not that I've ever experienced the Wyndiogoes myself. They haven't been around for centuries.
